Um…I’d be a little worried about you if you weren’t feeling temptation. I’m 38 years old. I’ve been tempted to think of naked women basically every few minutes for…let me see…about 25 years now. So, I have to keep my mind focused on other things, work, prayer, reading, writing, music…but occasionally my wife and I get to enjoy each other and there’s no need to think of anything else for a while. Life’s good!

From a religious perspective, do your best. Put your mind to productive things as best you can, if you find yourself entertaining some fantasy, clear your head and get on with life. If you really get off track, and realize you haven’t even been trying to behave, then we have confession. God has been listening to men confess letting their minds run crazy for 2,000 years now. He understands, since He invented this desire for His purpose of procreation in the first place. Also, really listen to the advice priests give you in confession. They have to learn to live celibate lives, so they know ALL the tricks for occupying their minds. A good, helpful priest can really give you some insight.

And, ultimately (and this is sort of mysterious I know) we need to thank God for our desires that we have so much trouble controlling. He set this task for us, and it seems impossible I know, but once you find your vocation it will all make a lot more sense - trust me! BTW, good job posting on here for help rather than giving up. I know that extreme sexual temptation that is SO hard to resist can lead to despair sometimes. Don’t let yourself get too bogged down, you’re normal, and you’re fighting the good fight, look at it that way.

ALSO - Although he was a Protestant, read CS Lewis’ “the Screwtape Letters”. Really helped me to understand temptation. There’s one chapter where a man is being tempted and it’s getting him down, then suddenly he realizes he’s being tempted and how silly he is being, and he laughs it off…I totally understood once I read that what Lewis was getting at. We are sort of silly and need worry less and trust God more to help us.

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one that struggles with lustful thoughts. I’m 18 years old too and it’s really hard to completely keep these kinds of thoughts out of your head; especially living on a college campus where many of the girls are dressed to encourage these thoughts. The only real answer is to keep faith and pray. Oh, and maybe read C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Screwtape Letters’ like the above poster said 👍

Don’t worry, your certainly not alone. Im 16 and I feel your pain. I am glad that you went to confession, because it helps the soul to increase in wisdom and grace and saintly piety. If people knew the real value of Confession, they would be fighting to get into the Confessional.

This Sacrament of Reconciliation does much more that “just” rid us of our sins; it gives us a tremendous increase in sanctifying grace. It wins for us a higher place in Heaven, with increased union with God.

Each time we go to Confession, we are preserved from many dangers and misfortunes which might otherwise have befallen us.

Confession is reconciliation with God–we admit our faults, we confess our pride, we want to be again in union with Him–and from all this honest and sincere reformation of life will come God’s added grace. The power of satan over us is diminished. We are helped to resist sin.

Without reformation and reconciliation, and all that these words imply, the Sacrament of Confession could become a superstitious practice.

A devout Confession helps us to hear the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. It gives us added “spiritual muscle” and helps us to hear and follow the advice of our Guardian Angels. It rids us of mortal sin and gives us a greater desire to be free even of venial sin. It gives us a special preserving influence against the fires of passion.

Pope Paul VI described Confession as: “… a school of moral wisdom, … a training ground for spiritual energy…”

Pope Pius XII, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Philip Neri, Ven. Mary of Agreda and many others went to confession every day.

St. Francis of Rome went three times a day.

These people knew how true it is that: “Confession is good for the soul.”

My suggestion: Run! Run to the nearest statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and pray a decade of the rosary. IT HAS TO WORK:yup:

A thought is not a sin until you consent to the pleasure it arouses and indulge them further. If you’re putting up a fight then you’re actually building virtue and not sinning. Keywords are resistance and fight. The urges and attractions are natural - the impure lust and deliberate thoughts are not.

Another thought that might help: each time you’re tempted get down and do 20 pushups or situps - in addition to the Ave Marias and avoid the internet which is an occassion of sin for any teenager.

God Bless,

PS. PM me and let me know if you need some sacramentals such as holy water, blessed salt, medals etc. these are useful against temptations and ridding yourself of any diabolical presence.

You will always have temptations but don’t allow yourself to think about them. Find something else to think about … a book to read, tv to watch, car magazine to read. It’s a tough age, but you will survive. Confess and pray often. Play basketball!

You should be asking Christ to help. He will, you know!
Pray: Lord, please handle this for me. Jesus I trust in you. Also, join a youth group at your church. It will also help if you get help from others in your situation.
