Hello!
So I have asked for roses from
Saint Therese a few times always on the same subject,(it this guy I like it’s the one God wills me to marry)and every time I see the roses at the end of the novena. But I’m confused now because nothing is moving in that direction ’, I don’t even know the man.just getting really hard to have faith. What is happening?

Patience and trust in God. Things don’t always move along at the pace you want, or in the direction you expect.

We must work as if everything depended on us and at the same time pray as if everything is in God’s hands. After all patience is a virtue, we are used to getting everything here and now or else.

However, we must also learn to wait for things to come and not lose hope or faith.

God Bless

So you like a certain man. You haven’t met him yet/don’t know him, yet you’ve set your heart on him.

I advice you to practice the virtue of prudence here. Stop putting the cart before the horse.

Seeing roses at the end of the novena just means your prayer has been heard. Through the novena you are asking St Therese to intercede with God on your behalf regarding a certain man and marrying him.

God knows what is best for you. He knows this man - you don’t. So perhaps your prayer has been answered - the answer is nothing is moving in that direction. Because it is not God’s will for you. Have you considered that?

God is not a vending machine - put in our prayers = get what we want. We can’t nor should we try to force our will to be done. We should accept Gods’ Will.

Considering what you’ve written, including the parts you’ve edited out, my advice to you is to forget this man and instead ask God to bring you the husband He wants you to have. Then let go and let God.

Thing is, God does not work that way.

God allows us to pick our spouses.

Are you dating this young man? Are the two of you talking about marriage?

Edit to add
Seeing roses at the end of the novena
means you saw roses. Roses are very common, it is summer and they are in bloom. They are a common decoration.

Do not put so much stock in things like this.

I assumed the OP meant interior vision - not seeing roses everywhere in the temporal world.

Personally, I too have prayed this novena and yes, I did smell a very strong scent of roses in the vicinity of St Thereses statue - no flowers in my house at all.

God does work that way.

But yes, we are to also do our part, by “searching”, keeping our eyes open, being open to whomever God does send, places in our path. Unless of course one doesn’t believe in Divine Providence.

Whilst we are left to have the final choice of our partner, and God respects this, it is also wise to take our choice to God in prayer and discern what God wants. This is something we should do in serious matters in life, and marriage is a very serious decision.
Do not put so much stock in things like this.
I agree with you here, hence the advice I gave to the OP.

Might be some issues with emotional chastity here. I would get to actually know him

Sister, I feel for you. Everyone wants desperately to find the love of their life; their other half.

I would follow the other posters advice: Keep praying, asking God to lead you to or lead to you the man He wills for you; and take the time and patience to thoroughly discern.

That being said; I advise you to look at courtship as a slow, prayerful, discerning process in which you feel out and size up the man you’re looking at. Like the early stages of courtship is like a job interview: You’re evaluating a candidate for his temperament, character and his abilities to fulfill his role as husband and father; while evaluating if he’s a good fit for you personality wise.

In the Philippines, my fiancé’s country; in the courtship, the man has to prove that he: A, truly loves the girl and B, what kind of man he is.

Give the process time to bear fruit and prayerfully discern the entire time.

Hope this helps.

In all the times I have prayed the therese novena, i have never received an actual rose, even though iw anted to. Shrugs. A lot of people prayed nove as toher and received roses. Sometimes i wonder if i did it correctly or asked for thr right thing. Oh well, maybe God thought i didnt need to have a rose. All i am asking for is a chance…

I received a rose. Now I know I just gotta hold on. God knows what he’s doing.

The other half thing is metaphorical. Jeez people are either incapable of understanding whay metaphors are or are bitter. And how do we know for sure that one can be as happy with some other. The answer is we dont. It os all hypothetical. The end.

Very much true, I’m not in need with my “missing” half, just a best friend that I can laugh and praise Jesus with, be the father of my kids. Birds of a feather flock together kinda of thing, but still holding our own uniqueness and bearing each of our weaknesses.

@Birdy17

I remember a similar story from some time ago, so, obviously, you’re not the only one to feel this way.

There was a time, when I was young, that I believed that there was only one possible “true love” pairing. I no longer believe that. Open yourself to the possibility that there are more guys available out there than just that one guy who’s been occupying your thoughts.

Smile. Be friendly. Style your hair and clothing to reflect the image that you want to project. Be open to meeting others. Pray that you be open to what God has planned for you, lest you pass right by the path he puts before you. Ask for His help in your finding contentment and purpose in your life now. If you can learn to appreciate and love your current life, and revel in new interests during your free time, your exuberance and enthusiasm will draw others to you—maybe that guy who’s been in your thoughts, and maybe someone else.
