Please pray for me. I cant seem to get rid of my sexual desires. For 3 months Im trying to get rid of lust, my enemy number one. Its been 3 months and im trying to have a sinless life as possible. Every month I tried to remove all sexual thoughts but there is this 1 day (in a month) where Im always failing to resist my sexual desires. I feel like a hypocrite when Im praying that I will not commit such sin again but I keep on failing. When Im resisting sexual desires I feel like Im a volcano that cannot hold the pressure, I often succeed but there is this one day that I cannot hold it. I feel like im not worthy of forgiveness and more chances from God because I commit it 2 times already.
 
I don’t think we can “get rid of” our sexual desires. We just have to cope with them and resist temptation. Maybe try accepting the feelings that you’re having and sit with them, and while you do that, pray to God for help. The Bible says no temptation has overtaken us that’s uncommon to man, but God is faithful to give us a way of escape. It also says the righteous fall seven times and stand up 8. Just keep repenting each time, and keep trying to stop.

Hi there, i just joint this forum about 5 mins ago and this was the first topic that caught my attention. Why? because i feel exactly the same as you. As much as i try to stay away from the temptation, all it needs is just that one day where you’re left alone feeling bored, that’s where it comes to you. This is one though battle my friend but as many say, do not give up. It just like how i use to be a smoker and was battling it out for several years but outta of one day when this inner conscience keep telling me to just forget about it, haven’t had one since 2013. I believe with a genuine intention and with God’s grace that same day I had will come again for my current sin. I’ll keep you in my prayers too friend.
 
Ryansmtgh has given you good advice. I would just like to add what has helped me all throughout my life with inappropriate thoughts. I don’t get the same temptations you are dealing with, but believe it or not, I sometimes get zapped right in the middle of Mass with garbage thoughts. We pretty much know that all this comes from Satan. So, who does Satan absolutely hate?? Yep. So what has worked every time for me for removing Satan’s garbage is for me to keep repeating, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, be gone”. I just keep repeating it. I occasionally get creative and keep repeating, “How all powerful Jesus is, how wonderful Jesus is, how Jesus will send Satan away for all time, how Jesus is pure good, so handsome, etc.” I think repeating so much praise for our Saviour must hurt Satan’s ears and ego, and he hates hearing it and leaves. You’re a soldier. Keep fighting Satan, it’s a war he knows he loses, but he is SO evil that he just wants to take as many down with him as he can. He is pure ugly evil spite.

Praying for you to have in increase in grace and virtue.

The negative vices (or bad habits) that we can experience have an opposite virtue that if practised helps to combat these negative passions and keep them in control. For instance the virtue of temperance helps control Gluttony and Lust. Lust is related to Gluttony as they both are a lack of temperance or self control, even such that one can lead to the other. The more we practice temperance the easier it becomes to resist these vices. The more we give in to these disordered passions or vices, the harder it is to resist them. For instance if you constantly give into eating chocolate ice cream then it is much harder to resist in the future because your will is weakened. But if you practice resisting it becomes easier to say no. You may have to keep that ice cream far from you for awhile to not create an occasion of temptation.

Natural Sexual desire itself is not sinful as it is part of our nature to help with procreation. Just like desiring food is not wrong because we need food to survive. It’s just that because of the effects of original sin our wills have been weakened and our intellect darkened such that our natural passions become unbalanced. Our intellect does not always keep our passions in check. We can overeat for instance. The good news is that Christ gives us the Holy Spirit who if we cooperate with will correct that imbalance putting to death disordered passions within us surrendering them to God. It is not a quick fix though for most of us. It is a process of learning to die to ourselves and live for God. So God loves you and He is always willing to forgive. He wants us to be free from our disordered addictions because he loves us, not because he is a dominating tyrant. He wants what is best for us. So He is not harsh with us, but is like a loving parent who is loving and merciful towards us in order to bring us to repentance. He may chastice us for a time but only to bring about good fruit in us. Just like any good parent would do for their children because they love them.

One thing you can do is to increase your faith and virtue is to read scripture every day Read Jn 3:16-17 and Gal 5:16-25.

You are welcome Aci. Just keep repeating until your whole brain is full and there is no more room for Satan or his evilness in there. You might have to do it a lot at first since Satan is very persistent and he seems to know where the weak spots are, but stay strong and he will not be around as much. He will look for easier prey, but know that all throughout your life, he will keep stopping bye just to check out your weak spots. My prayers for you too.

I recommend praying a novena Mary undoer of knots, you will find peace and as well as the novena to St. Faustina for the graces you need to overcome it, It helped me and I was to blame for the creation of nude photography, I one day calmly prayed after going to confession it ceased after trashing my portfolio, I changed my career and I fasted from movies, youtube, and going to places I knew, that had obscene content, youre not alone, its hard but we also need to do our part and try to stop, and please visit confession.
