I don’t want to spend too much time with her right now. Everytime she moves, breathes, exists near me, I have to consider it an “occasion of sin”.

A Catholic male friend of mine told me this about his romantic relationship. I think it lends quite a bit of insight into some of the dynamics that go on in such relationships these days.

a bit extreme dont ya think???..
but perhaps a chaperone is what you need:)

What could the chaperone do to mitigate his lust? Pluck his eyes out?

Isn’t he supposed to AVOID occasions of sin?

Tell your friend to start praying including for pure heart and mind… that he sees breath not as a lude of sin but a joyness that she is a beautiful woman that God created. So then the scaredness, hopefully become a loving and respect toward his future wife, be it her or not… or any woman for that fact.

Definitely pray about it. Obviously you’re struggling and its awful when a thought takes over your mind like that. Please pray, and maybe even pray together that God will guide you in your relationship and keep your minds free from temptation.

It is possible to be with someone you love so much without having immoral thoughts pass through your mind. Its hard, but possible.

I wish the very best for you. Take care.

One suggestion might be to do things in groups with other people. You may still be aroused by her, but there will be more people to distract you while you’re with her.

This is a major symptom of infatuation. As you get to know her better and as time passes, the infatuation should lessen and true friendship will develop.

Good luck.
