Its kind of a rant, but I’m getting really sick of the way things have been in my life.

I dropped out of college, I’ve struggled with depression/ anxiety, but most of all I really cannot reconcile my faith with living in the world. The reason that is, is because I have same-sex attraction, I am therefore called to lifelong celibacy.

That’s fine, I plan to live celibately my entire life.** But, I refuse to live alone. I refuse to live as a secular individual who has to return home and live by myself. I want a Catholic community to live in. I need a Catholic community.**

Unless you live alone, and have lived alone your whole life, then I don’t want to hear reasons why I should get a degree or a secular job, and live as an individual in an individualistic society.

If you HAVE lived alone your whole life, then give me some reasons why I should do that.

Because, I just can’t foresee me having a bright future unless I live in a Catholic community somewhere.

I don’t want to work any secular job or career, and I don’t want a degree. These things NECESSITATE that whatever job I have, I will return home from work, and be alone.

I want to live in Catholic community. Isn’t that enough? Can’t the Church help me? Isn’t there a place for me?

I suppose my post could’ve just consisted of me whining 50x: GIVE ME A CATHOLIC COMMUNITY TO LIVE IN~!!!:crying:

But… that’s basically where I am right now.
**
I’m 22. I’m a college drop out. I’m called to lifelong celibacy. And, I have no future prospects. I need a Catholic community to live in. That’s what I want for my future. Why can’t that be my future prospects?**

Perhaps you could look for a Catholic housemate or two. But if they will be a near occasion of sin for you, then you must live alone lest you be culpable of mortal sin. It is a mortal sin to put oneself in the near occasion of falling into a mortal sin; many Catholics are unaware of this, but it is true. God bless you.

I answered your other post too, but will give a different thought here. First I am sorry for your difficulties. It does not sound like an easy thing to be you at this point in your life.

Second, changing exterior circumstances won’t resolve the loneliness and sense of apartness you are feeling. Your exterior circumstances are a reflection of the interior condition.

Your solution would be to work on the interior, explore the past family difficulties you mentioned in the other post and as the interior heals, the exterior circumstances will change.

Lastly, God has an amazing future for you. It may look exactly like you think it will at this point in your life, but it might look completely different. Either way, if you are in God’s will, it wil be wonderful.

Good luck.

Lets get realistic here, as a single person I am bound to Chastity just as you are, its Church teaching and most other Religions teaching also, you need to be kept busy, get out there into the Community and give a hand, would you like the Legion of Mary, helping out in the Parish, let the Secretary of the Parish know your available to lend a hand if something needs to be organised, Ask in the Parish can you help in some way.
Are you good at knowing your Catechism, if so maybe you could help teach some children of the Parish, or Bible. Seek and you shall find.

I have lived by myself for most of my life. I won’t tell you that you shouldn’t live in a Catholic community but I will say, that I don’t think I would ever go back to having a roommate. The last time I had a roommate I was in college. While the first few years after college were the loneliest of my life I will say that living with roommates does not necessarily decrease your loneliness. It’s hard to believe, when you come from college where you are surrounded by people all day, but it’s true. In fact, looking back through the years, I was actually more lonely in college with same age peers around me all day than I am now.

The problem isn’t being alone, the problem is finding solitude. When you get to the point where you don’t need people to feel secure, engaged, accepted etc. that is when you stop feeling lonely. For me it took years and years of practice and truth be told, I’m still working on it. Also, my relationships are of a better quality now that I don’t expect things of people but I am able to accept them for who they are. The quality of my interactions are better now. I used to get into petty fights with my roommates and I felt angry and alone most of the time. Now I go home and I am at peace. I am able to enjoy the friendships I do have, even if there aren’t as many of them as I would like.

May God bless you! I am at the start of my journey living a celibate life, I also have ssa, I live alone but I attend mass regurlary and receive the sacraments as much as possible I never stop asking God for his graces and thanking him for the grace he has already gave me .I am a member of many clubs and societies so this helps to keep me around people and stops me from getting lonely, just remember that God has put you here for a purpose he is always there for you. God bless.
