I need a play/skit/routine with two or more characters that is five to ten minutes long, and is funny (preferably hilarious) for two males to perform. Does anyone have any suggestions. I’m not allowed to use props, so that might affect my decision about which piece I select. Thanks!

I don’t know if it’d be appropraite or not but there’s a Monty Python scene for two men called Michelangelo and the Pope, quite funny. The Pope is complaining to Michelangelo about the painting of “The Last Supper” after Michelangelo embelishes it a bit by adding Kangaroos and too many disciples etc. I just had a look on the net and found the script, don’t know if it’s word perfect, if you’d like me to email it to you or something let me know 🙂 Other than that I’ll keep trying to think, I teach at an all girls school so I have mainly female scripts.

**You can’t go wrong with the Abbott and Costello skit of “Who’s On First?”. Awesome!

Good luck finding something!**

Go to your local Bible book store, probably Protestant, and ask them for skitbooks by Martha Bolton.

She used to write for Bob Hope, so all her skits have that dry sense of humor. Very funny.

If the bookstore doesn’t have any in, ask them to order them. They used to be published by Lillenas. I don’t know who publishes them now.

I did an google search on Martha Bolton, and it looks like you can buy her books online.

You could try calling around to various evangelical churches in your area that are big enough to have drama ministries.

I have used Martha Bolton skits in church and secular settings and they are incredibly funny and well-received. I used them at a hospital appreciation dinner for doctors, and they loved the skits. They still mention them once in a while.

They’re very funny, but totally clean, decent, non-racist, and they don’t ridicule people. I’ve used them with children and teenagers, too. Many of them have a Christian message, but it’s not usually in your face.

Have fun and break a leg.

Go to your local Library, and get the Script for the “Reduced Shakespeare Company’s The complete works of William Shakespeare (abridged).” There are a couple parts that can be done separately, or with a couple other parts, as a compilation.
If one of them doesn’t mind wearing a dress, I would suggest Romeo and Juliet done by two actors, with a narrator. If none of them want to wear a dress, I would combine “The Othello Rap” with “The Histories as a football game,” and finish with “Julius Caesar/Macbeth (The cesarian section)”
Oh, if at all possible, start with this music: Here. It is Geensleeves done on electric guitar.

Yours in Christ,
Thursday
