I need help with sleep problems, and porn addiction

I agree. Having the internet watch you is creepy. Instead, have a brother in Christ call you up several times a day and check up on you and what you are doing! This is what the protestants do all the time and it works and gets results. They call it, Accountability Partners. Save the internet for the google creeps. Just be a man and get out your hammer and smash that evil box! You will feel so much better. Then go apply to jobs and go to church and don’t even stay in a hotel, if it tempts you, rather sleep in a tent! There is so much more to life, than porn, which is basically summed up by Satan anihilating your soul through the naked bodies of women whose souls are also being anihilated. The spiritual battle here is going to be intense. Show Satan you are NOT going to be easy to trick anymore! Show him you value your soul, over and above all his devices. By depending on yourself, you will fail, because you are only a man. But by depending on God, who is so much more powerful than Satan that the very name of Jesus sends Satan away in fear, you will triumph. Never, ever, ever give up. Remember, if you persevere, Satan will lose, and you, will stand winner, even if you fall. But do not take this time as a long time to fall and get up, but see this time as very short, for the end is very near and Judgement Day is very, very near. Therefore take drastic action by first removing and taking revenge against all forms of temptation. By doing this you will send satan a message to leave you alone because your allegiance is to God, and by this God will have compassion and mercy upon you. I pray daily for you and I prayed a Rosary for you last night, and I pray very often that pornography will become illegal so that no one will be tempted by it anymore. It is not fair at all that a man should be innocently trying to read his news online and see an ad for pornography come across his screen. That is, in itself, an attack against any decent man of indecent exposure across his screen and should be illegal! Everyone, in order to really help, we must demand that pornography be made illegal. Is not pornography simply televised prostitution? So let me get this straight, it is illegal to hire someone for sex, unless you put it on television? So, if you do WORSE than just to hire a woman to sleep with, and now you televise it for millions to see including unfortunately the millions of innocent child eyes that are exposed to it, that is now legal? We should gag ourselves before allowing this in our Christian nation!

Ok everyone we can agree to disagree, people of good will can do that. A little tough love can be helpful but let’s not lose sight of a few things. We don’t know the nature of the problem. We don’t. It could be medical, psychological, spiritual, or other. The OP said he has been dealing with this for five months. Sounds like he HAS been trying to get past it. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he had a weak moment or two as he overcomes these issues. Remember trying to overcome sins? It can be really tough and taxing, and progress is often incremental. Further, depression, just for example, can also cause these types of things, in which case the methods that might otherwise work might not be advisable nor effective.

Further as someone who worked in a clinical sleep setting I can tell you that sleep problems can really mess with people. Parasomnia for example (leg or arm movements) can make it nearly impossible to move through sleep phases, so patients never feel rested despite having slept for 9 hours. If you look at their EEG (brainwaves) it becomes very apparent that they aren’t sleeping well. The OP mentioned that he was concerned about driving while feeling sleep deprived. Only he can make that judgement.

@OP you have to be honest with yourself as well. Is this an issue that im contributing to? Am I not having good sleep hygiene? Am I not putting in the effort to overcome problems? We all can fall into a routine and even a funk sometimes so we have to be honest with ourselves.

If it is then there is a bit more work to do. If not though I would definitely recommend going to see a sleep physician as soon as it’s possible for you. I would also seek out one who is registered with the AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine). This is a governing body for sleep medicine, and the practioners there are required to meet certain standards. Unfortunately sleep medicine (as of ten years ago or so when I left) was a bit unregulated and unfortunately some physicians\labs that really didn’t know much about sleep medicine began practicing. I was in a University hospital setting and sometimes we would see repeat patients from other labs… try to find an AASM accredited lab . https://aasm.org/. I would NOT recommend taking Valium without a prescription. If your having difficulty finding a sleep physician your general practitioner may be able to provide some help.
I’m praying for you. I recommend a daily rosary, some orayerful quiet reflection, and a simple “Jesus I trust in you” when temptations hit. Please pray for me I can learn to write shorter posts!

The only thing more strange than people not understanding the powerful nature of sex is not understanding the powerful nature of addiction to sex. Mind boggling. It’s almost like they never had sex or actually were born without reproductive organs.

Mother Mary,
We ask for your prayers to remove the evil of pornography
and to set our world free by the blood of Jesus.

Let us be an example throughout the world, to end the evil
that hurts your Immaculate Heart. Let us be pure ourselves.

Let us pray with purity. Let us be heard by your Son, Jesus.

We pray for all those hurt and involved in the industry that
they may be saved in the day of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

We pray for all who are hurt and tortured by emotional and
physical pain, by addictions and temptations.

We pray for all children aborted throughout this industry.
We pray for all incestuous relations to end. We pray that
this world’s many sins are stopped forever.

Jesus, save our souls. Help our world overcome this evil
with Love. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, pray for us. Through
