rummaging through boxes i found a leatherbound book, guilded leafed pages, OLD, inscribed with the owners name “Joseph W.Drexel , Josephine W. Drexel” (relatives of Saint Katherine Drexel). The books title is “The Blessed Damozel”. gold leafing on pages… looks 100+ years old…
anyone have info on this tome? history? ideas on what to do with it?

Are you located in Philadelphia? That’s where the Drexel family has traditionally been based. You might try contacting the ASW Rosenbach Museum (Rosenbach was a great book dealer/collecter) or maybe the Philadelphia Public Library. Either institution should get you going.

Also, is there any little tag inside the cover that might indicate what bookstore the book originally came from? Is there a copyright date? Was the book published in England or America? (These factors might bear upon the book’s value.)

Always check Google.com first. The top hit brought up this page which has information on the book in its various editions and printings.

Issuing multiple editions with additions and changes was very common with poets and writers in those days.
