I guess I’m no different than anyone else, but I want to give thanks, I need to pray for myself, for other people, to ask for help the list goes on.

Soooo, how should I do this? I’m led to believe that prayers should be kept short without rambling on & on & on.

Should I dedicate 1 day of the week to give thanks, another day to ask for help and so on, or could I do all these in one day or when I say the Rosary could I dedicate one decade for thanks, another decade for help etc?.

Thank you

The Our Father covers it all… It really does. keep it simple.

You might wish to look into the consecration to Mary. In doing this, you would offer to Mary all that your are and do for her intentions, reserving nothing for yourself.
She in turn will take care of your needs.

Do a search on the “consecration to Mary”.

I have my prayers that I say at the morning and the evening. Through the day, I just say quick prayers, just a simple talking to God. As things occur to me, I say a short prayer.

In the beginning of your Rosary prayer, you can state all your intentions. For example, for the conversion of sinners, for the souls in Purgatory, for the repentance and protection of America, for the Catholic church, for all the clergy, for healing of all sick people, for all who ask for my prayer, for all my personal needs…etc. Then they could all get the grace from the entire Rosary.

Mother Mary is powerful. We can pile up all our intentions and she is powerful enough to take them all. And you can do as many Rosary Mysteries as your time allows. Ideally we should pray the Rosary throughout the day, all 4 Mysteries and more.

You can do any or all of those things. There isn’t really a right or wrong or a should/shouldn’t…prayer is a deeply personal experience . A lot of people find it beneficial to develop a habit by sticking to a pattern like like praying a rosary or something in the morning, Angelus at noon, the Psalms and/or the Ignatian Daily Examen at night, as examples. Some people work hard to develop a “pray without ceasing” lifestyle. But prayer, as Saint Theresa of Avila said, is a “close sharing between friends”. There is nothing wrong with rambling to the Lord. We all ramble to our best friends and spill out all our heart and mind sometimes. God wants to be your best friend, so feel no shame in spilling your heart out to him at all. Let him know what you need, let him know when you’re thankful, and let him know when your angry, and let him know ALL about it. Yet, if you have something very specific to say to the Lord, and simple concise prayer is fine. Even if you have nothing in particular to say, silently acknowledge God’s presence with you as your going about your day. Close friends sometimes spend quality time together just enjoying each others company without needing to say anything, and God is the same. Again, there’s no “should” or “should’t”. Everything you mentioned sounds great. It’s all prayer and it’s all good.
