there is much we don’t know about God, period! The Catholic Church has much to say about Genesis 4. God sees the heart. It is understood that Cain did not give the “fatted calf” of the harvest.

Then how do you proffer that God changed the goodness that was in man after the original sin of Adam and Eve?

When did God re-create man in the image of, well, a sinful man?

Or did Adam and Eve then “create” man anew in their image and likeness?

Forgive me, but I do not really understand how the sin of Adam and Eve could change the never-changing God.

We suffer together in this humanity through one man as we are saved together through one man. Original sin seperated us from God but it did not change what we are made of. Sin was brought into the world, that sin being death, but, “be of good cheer, for I AM has conquered death.”

The sin of Adam did not change our goodness or God would not say to Cain, “and thou shalt rule over him{sin}.”

Exactly. And that is why the Church teaches that we are born with the stain of original sin on our souls, not the sin itself.

. Our pastor has instituted a practice in which we greet those closest to us about five minutes before Mass begins.

this reminds me of something i said elsewhere, when someone said something about how Christ wants us to find him in others. I said “That is SO not true…” (etc)

Well, I would like to explain… I know that Jesus wants us to see Him in others… but some of us have been so hurt/traumatized/abused (etc) by others that we have gotten to the point
that we can’t really trust anymore… Rather than making these people lousy Christians… (& i proably soiunded like one )because they aren’t all warmth and friendliness 24/7… well… it just makes them different… crippled…
and another good thing about it is that these people can appreciate Christ more… because thye know from experience that He is the only one who can be trusted 100%… always and forever… which makes them love him more, cling to him more… etc…

Besides our ability ‘to know’ and ‘to understand’ I believe the next greatest gift is to be able to empathise.

But remember Christ Himself said ‘he came not for the well but for the sick’. The Church is akin to a hospital, It’s Priests the Doctors, Catholic Doctrine a prescription.

We are all by one definition or another struggling to achieve perfection and in the case of this unworthy wretch…falling painfully short!
