I last went to confession in March due to this virus but in the last few weeks my church has made an exception, even though confession used to be on Saturdays prior to the virus they have decided for some reason to put it on Fridays. I work on Fridays and this is the only time anyone can have confession. My priest is also now going away for a couple of weeks. It’s one stumbling block after another. I feel spiritually fatigued by constantly holding out for and looking for confession.

Have you tried calling your parish and scheduling an appointment? Is there still time to do that? What about other parishes in your area?

Hugs. Good luck setting up an appointment. That way you can make a regular or a general confession depending on what you’re needs are.

I am in a similar situation with regards to confession (not been since March). I am hoping the chance to go will be soon…

You can go to confession at a different catholic church. Look around on the internet, unless you live in a pretty isolated place then usually there are at least a couple different catholic churches around.

I wonder how many Catholics have died without confession during this virus?

Probably not many. I know it’s discouraging, but that’s one of the reasons churches have been closed. Lots of priests are older and especially prone to corona, and if they go down, there is no one to hear emergency confessions. Lots of priests have had normal duties suspended but continued hearing confessions for the gravely ill.

Surely the Lord will give special help to make good acts of contrition until it’s possible to go… Prayers!

How can you be sure of that? I am sure priests have come into more contact by shopping for food than they would with confessions?
I can’t be sure of that for millions of priests, but I know at least in my diocese that was discussed as a rationale.
