I think I may have testicular cancer

Hello everyone, I am 23 years old and I think I may have testicular cancer. I noticed a lump and swelling on my testicle a few days ago. I rarely feel any pain, but I know something is very wrong. I plan on calling my doctor as soon as his office opens on Monday. I am very scared because if it is cancer, I will have to have surgery and probably radiation or chemotherapy. When looking it up online, most of the symptoms describe it. I work at least 5 days a week, go to college, and attend church regularly. I also fear that if I do have it, it may have already spread. I can’t afford to deal with this. Please pray that this is nothing and that I will be healthy.

One of the downsides to the internet. People googling and then self-diagnosing. Not a good idea. It makes people anxious for no reason.
See your doctor and stay away from the internet about this topic.

Please stop looking online.

It’s good that you’re seeing your Doctor. I had a similar issue several years ago and it turned out to be nothing. There are benign conditions that can cause this. So, stay calm and tell your Doctor everything.

I was finally able to call the doctor today. He referred me to a medical imaging office for a scrotal ultrasound. I believe that there is not only a lump on my testicle, but fluid buildup and inflammation as well. I have to call the office tomorrow to schedule the appointment. I don’t know when it will be because I work in retail 5 days a week and I don’t want to put them in a spot by calling out for this appointment. If it is cancer, I will almost definitely have to take a leave of absence. I’m scared of having surgery. I’ve read online that they will have to remove the testicle and then evaluate the results. I don’t want my testicle removed unless they are 100% sure it’s cancer. I would be even more upset if they removed it and they saw in hindsight that it was not necessary. I have a feeling that I will need a literal miracle not to have it removed. Thank you so much for your continued prayers. I hope my anxiety will stop soon.
 
I will have both my parents there when this happens. I talked with my priest after mass yesterday and he blessed me, but he didn’t anoint me. I have work scheduled for the next two weeks. I really don’t want to be operated on the day after the appointment because it’s not enough notice. Schedules are made every Friday for the following week. They ask for at least 2 weeks notice for a leave of absence. I want to take a proper, not sudden, leave of absence if necessary. I enjoy working more than anything else because I’m helping people and everyone at work is very supportive of me. I have the most hours of anyone in my position at my store. What types of treatments should I expect if this is cancer?

Nobody in these forums is allowed to give out any medical advice. Its against the rules.
Please just stick to what the doctors are telling you and do NOT google as this will simply cause anxiety.
