I think I'm pregnant again

Hi Roxy,
I took another test this morning and it’s ‘arguably’ a positive. At this point I have resigned myself, and, while I’m not thrilled, I am grateful that if this is my cross then it’s awfully small compared to others’.
My husband is upset because of the financial impact. He makes an excellent living, but where we live demands private schools because public are unacceptable. I homeschool until high school, but next year we’ll have two in private high school and one in college.
Many have done this with less, so we’ll figure it out and reprioritize what we have to.

Now to find a way to deal with the constant uneasiness in the tummy (without gaining 75 lbs.) that is sure to come any day now.
All the best to you, exiled! I know you were surprised by God’s gift this time, but I’m sure this baby will be a blessing to your happy family. It is actually a good thing for young adult children to work their way through college, and for the ones in high school to understand that college isn’t a given unless they put in hard work and hopefully get scholarships. Getting everything handed to you tends to make for less of a work ethic.

God bless you and your family! If I lived near you I’d be happy to babysit! I miss being around kids!!

Bless your heart. I will certainly pray for you. My husband would have been the same way, although we only have four children.
If it is any consolation, you’ll get tuition breaks for having more than one in private school.
Blessings on you…

congratulations.

I don’t practice NFP myself. It is very admirable that you do.

Glory be to God! I am not pregnant! For the life of me I don’t know how my 1st and 3rd test showed the faintest blue positive, although the 2nd was clearly a negative. In any case, I had, at least, reconciled myself to the will of God, although one day I hope to be holy enough to receive it with joy right away.
Thank you all for your support!

you’re 40 something…could have just been a chemical pregnancy.

I’m glad you are not pregnant b/c you seem relieved 🙂 Now go an enjoy your 8 kids 🙂

What in the world is a chemical pregnancy?

Blue dye tests have a higher rate of false positives than pink dye tests, so it could be that you were getting false positives.

Now there is something I had never heard before! Learn something new every day, thank you!

👍

Congrats! I’m so happy for you! Not to be too nosy, but I bet you’re kind of - gun shy - (don’t know how else to put it) and I bet your husband is too - will you do anything differently now? I hope you can relax a little now! (not sure how you can do that with 8 kids but I think you know what I mean!) I hope you and your husband get to have a little time to relax together and breathe…
God Bless

you took three test and no period yet… 2 of the 3 pregnancy test said positive pregnancy and 1 didn’t. so 33% said NO and 67% said YES. a blood test is the only way to confirm for sure. you may want to also talk to your doctor about why you are so late getting your period.

I agree— please see a doctor.

A chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarraige… Are you congradulating her on havnig a very early miscarriage beacause she didn’t want more kids? Just sounds strange…I don’t know why anyone would congradulate someone for not being pregnant, I can see something like Glory be to God whatever his will may be, but not things like good thing you didn’t get pregnant…as if God’s will if she had been pregnant would have been totally awful…All these comments are just troubling me. If you dont want to get pregnant, than abstain for either a period time or indefinate, you MUST be open to life if your going to practice NFP otherwise it becomes sinful.

I agree, the OP needs to see a doctor and have a blood test.

I was congratulating her (and I know you didn’t quote me but I expect we were kind of thinking along the same lines) because she’s relieved she’s not pregnant. She’s using NFP - obviously with 8 kids, she’s been VERY open to life. There are plenty of women who are unhappy when they believe they may be pregnant (there are plenty that are thrilled too). There is no rule or even law in the Church that says you have to even be happy you believe you might be pregnant or thrilled you are pregnant. No one knows if this was a chemical pregnancy or not - it’s believed by many in the medical field that as high as 70% of conceptions end this way - women never even knew they had conceived and most never will.
My best friend has had pregnancy scares before as they were using NFP - the last time she said she felt like she had “dodged a bullet” because she knew she couldn’t emotionally or financially handle another child.
If the OP did miscarry, I’m truly sorry that happened - but she’ll likely never know unless she gets a blood test very, very soon. Either way, I will say I’m glad she won’t be pregnant when she obviously didn’t feel like she (nor her husband) could handle another pregnancy. It’s o.k. to be relieved and even happy you have found you’re not pregnant.
God Bless
