I think there will be a lot of saints in this generation

Hi,

I just wanted to state my hypothesis that there will be a massive amount of saints from this generation. I mean canonizable saints. The Holy See will be swamped with saints’ causes from the people who are living today. People living today will be canonized as saints in massive numbers. I just get that sense. I was wondering if anyone here gets that sense too. Maybe it has something to do with the great ability to share the gospel through various mediums. But their is a massive potential for an EXPLOSION of saintliness and holiness, and supernatural charity in our day. It’s just there, simmering under the surface. And it is just going to explode! And I feel very soon. What do all of you here think of this? I believe in all of you, that you are all possible saints. I love what Patrick Coffin says all the time on Catholic Answers Live “Be a saint! What else is there?” Catholic Answers is so wonderful. The Church is just so wonderful. It’s all just so amazing. There is just so much potential and it is just cooking, cooking til the pot spilleth over.

I fear that too a lot. I think a lot of my anxieties and mental difficulties derive from the fear that I will become one. I have no romantic feelings about anyone being a martyr, not excluding myself of course. It is a very real fear for all authentic radical Christians, and especially Catholics. And it is a great fear for many people contemplating becoming Catholics. I bet this is the biggest obstacle to evangelization, the fear of martyrdom, scorn, and abuse. Maybe I will start another thread on this topic, if anyone here thinks that it is a good idea. Some of us may be called to be martyrs, but how does one know when that is really what God requires from one of us, and when is it kind of a romantic fantasy that oneself has concocted. Because there are always radicals who want to go into battle believing that they are dying for a good cause, when actually God may be calling such a person to be more gentle and charitable and forgiving. A lot of political revolutionaries who do not base their philosophy on God’s unconditional love for all of His children seem to fall into this romantical category of “martyrs”.
