It varies, depending on the Order. I’d suggest getting the book “A Guide to Religious Ministries”, which most local parishes have, or go to their website, www.religiousministries.com and have a look around.

First of all, where do you live? Do you want to join an order near by or elsewhere?

I made some long distance phone calls to the Jesuit Order in Washington D.C., New York, and New England and found out that there really isn’t a minimum age requirement. In depends on where you are in your life, what schooling you have had, etc.

A call to the local Benedictine Retreat resulted in a similar answer, though 21 was given as a guess.
