Hey folks. I’m writing a novel where the lead characters are a nun and a priest, but I have A LOT to learn. Anyone want to help me with a few questions? I have many, actually, such as how a nun shows respect to a priest and vice-versa, as in if they are passing on the sidewalk? Do they just say good morning Father/Sister, or is there more, like a tip of the head? Is there any curtsying or bowing involved? I JUST DON’T KNOW!

That is not this particular book’s focus. Sure, “Write what you know” is a basic tenet of writing fiction, but I’m working outside my comfort zone here. Besides, I’m not really looking for advice, I’m seeking facts, understanding, the means by which I can accurately represent their world.

Thank you for asking. Modern. Right now. I have a new nun coming to a priest to deliver a message.

You might want to read books about what it’s like to be a sister in modern times.
I’m afraid I don’t know if any to recommend, sorry 🙂
