I was baptized twice (sort of)...which one was "valid"?

What a small world! I was born three months premature at 27 weeks. Like you I was also baptized multiple times. I was transferred from one hospital to another and I think the staff wanted to make sure I was baptized rather than assume the other hospital had done it. (Better safe than sorry!).

Sincerely,

But we should not be baptize more than once. I wonder if lay people can perform conditional baptism?

We shouldnt ***intentionally*** baptize more than once. But if a babys life is in immediate jeopardy it is better to assume the baby has not been baptized, and to baptize the baby, than assume that he/she already has been and do nothing. I was not expected to survive so I am glad the hospital staff chose to baptize me, rather than wait to confirm it, because my parents would have been much more comforted knowing I had been baptized if I had indeed died.
