I quite agree and was wrong to word it in that way. There is a very fine presentation by the late Dr. Marcus Borg who said that, once we dismiss the idea of God as interventionist, we can then begin to experience a greater cooperative relationship. I believe very strongly in what we call God, but I understand the things which happen to me are not coming from that direction, nor am I likely to escape the effects of the earthly world, evil included. I can seek strength from this unknown, but do not expect to be insulated from the life I am leading. From the perspective of the eternal, what happens here is of little importance and is brief in duration. At least, this is how I cope with it all.I’m being told that I should believe in something that I don’t believe in. The sentence doesn’t even make sense.
