I am not sleeping and might as well go if I am awake

How long is Mass and can I wear jeans and boots? (not sneakers)

I personally want to recommend that you would wear as formal as possible… i mean, don’t you want to look purdy for God =]?

and it is indeed very distracting when girls wear short skirts and can see 9/10 of their legs or when guys show off their oh so cool tattoos with their sleeveless shirts

BUT its your choice… =)

(special thanks to my ex boyfriend who taught me to dress right @ church. i used to be the example above, but he often rants about his hatred of people dressing like that because he’s the usher for the sunday morning mass hahaha)

I wear jeans to church but not blue jeans - black or gray… i need to go church clothes shopping.

OHH YEAH
and it’s about an hour
depending on priests and sometimes choir it might be shorter or longer. but an hour ish.

Thanks for responding
The clothes I have are clean and modest looking and what I can afford to own right now.

That’s it? Really? I am used to longer services.

Will anyone approach me to talk to me?

No, an hour is pretty much the norm unless it is some major feast day like Easter or Pentecost. Won’t have one of those until Palm Sunday which is the first Sunday in April.

I can’t speak for other parishes but no one in my parish would approach you. Oh, one of the ushers might say “Good morning” when you were entering but that would be the extent of it. Now, if you went for coffee and donuts in the parish hall after Mass…people would talk to you. Probably talk your ear off…😃 My parish socializes after Mass.

Have a wonderful time! Don’t be nervous, just do what everyone around you is doing and you’ll be fine… don’t forget that if you’re not Catholic then you shouldn’t receive the Eucharist.

I’ll be praying for you this morning that you will fall in love with it like I have!

in Christ
Steph

about an hour, and yes, just wear what is clean and appropriate business dress where you live. Down here, that is often new jeans (cuffed) with boots highly polished, starched white shirt, enormous belt buckle and matching bolo tie, and stetson (hat removed at the church door of course). If you own only two pairs of pants, wear what is clean and neat.

You can wear whatever you want, even sneakers. 🙂 Revealing clothing is frowned upon. Clean and appropriate is all that’s required.

I know it is late and you probably habe been to mass already, but can you tell us your experience about your first mass and what compelled you to go?
God bless you.🙂

Dear Sunshine007,

I just logged in and saw this post. Did you go to Mass? I hope you did. Do you have any questions? Please let us know how everything went for you at Mass.

God Bless,

Jean
