It appears to be a fine old structure - one could just get a glimpse of the timbered barrell vaulting in one of the pictures.

That part of England always remained terra incognita to me, sadly.

Do you know whether the church was built as a Catholic church, or is a “redundant” (what a euphamism!) COE structure?

Cheers!

WOO HOO! This is wonderful news! 😃 :extrahappy:

We hear all sorts of good news about Bishop Mark Davies of Shrewsbury! He is sooo generous to traditional Catholics!

I have a priest-friend in his former diocese of Salford [Manchester] who knew the Bishop when he was the diocesan Vicar General. Before his elevation, then-Monsignor Davies * was practically my friend’s next-door neighbor!*

I met Canon Meney on Sunday morning, he came to the EF Mass I was attending. He will be celebrating EF Masses in several locations on Sundays - one at the church at New Brighton, one in Preston (which is where I attend Mass) and one in Liverpool.

Up to now, it’s been hard work for the Institute priests. They’ve been coming over from Belgium to celebrate Masses in three locations over a weekend, then returning to Belgium during the week. On weekends when they’ve had other duties, a retired missionary priest has been helping with the Masses. So getting their own church in England is a positive move of the Institute. 🙂

I shall have to enquire as to whether they will be accepting lodgers who want to have an EF Mass every day…

How interesting, I was thinking of Bishop Davies the other day, just out of the blue. What thankful news!

Alas, I must admit to some jealousy. If only ICRSS could have an apostolate in Southern California!! Preferably in my neck of the woods, of course! 😃

take care,
amsjj 🙂

Jesus, God and man,
imprisoned by love in Thy most holy Sacrament,
have mercy upon us.
– Blessed John Henry Newman, December 22, 1851

Tú y yo sabemos por la fe que oculto en las especies sacramentales está Cristo,
ese Cristo con su Cuerpo, con su Sangre, con su Alma, y con su Divinidad,
prisonero de amor.
