Hi all,

I’m looking to finally build an Icon Corner and am looking for suggestions.

Feel free to post yours here!

Also, there’s a Lenten icon that I really like, would it be okay to keep it up year round?

Welcome! Here was a thread with some pictures of Icon Corners.

As money permits, it’s good to have icons of the Lord and the Theotokos, and your patron Saint. Normally there is also an oil lamp (called the Vigil Lamp or Holy Lamp. Some Orthodox keep theirs lit at all times, while others do not)

Yes that’s fine 😎

Your home icon corner is really a personal prayer space up to your discretion and or aesthetic tastes.

What @ReaderT said is a good place to start. Then add saints and icons of feasts according to those that are important to you or that you have a special spiritual connection with.

Food for thought, the Russians call their icon corner the beautiful corner. The more beautiful the better, for it reminds us every time we pass by to lift up our hearts to heaven, and how we are not alone, but surrounded by “a cloud of witnesses”.

Christ and the Theotokos first and in the center - I like mine hinged like travel icons…
Then your Saint Name icon…
A lampada…
Then icons given to you on pilgrimages…
And icons that appeal to you…
An incense burner with charcoal and incense…
Little brass hooks for your prayer rope(s)
A little shelf for prayer books, akathists, etc…
A supply of 1/4" beeswax candles for reading prayers…
A 1/2" candle holder and another 3/4"…
And a supply of candles for each…
A prayer rug…
You can always be improving it…
The more you use it, the more you willl improve it…
Don’t forget a place for Holy Oils from pilgrimages…
Icons of name saints for people you pray for…

Most important, it is the place you set aside for God morning and night…
No matter what…
Every day and night…
Waking up to pray is a wonderful thing…
