I’ve noticed lately that the Atomic Clock is moving ever closer to Midnight and was wondering if anyone here would offer prayer for peace and an end to the threat of nuclear war…?

“The Clock represents the hypothetical global catastrophe as “midnight” and The Bulletin’s opinion on how close the world is to a global catastrophe as a number of “minutes” to midnight. Its original setting in 1947 was seven minutes to midnight. It has been set backward and forward 22 times since then, the smallest-ever number of minutes to midnight being two (in 1953) and the largest seventeen (in 1991). As of January 2017, the Clock is set at two and a half minutes to midnight, due to a “rise of ‘strident nationalism’ worldwide, United States President Donald Trump’s comments over North Korea, Russia, and nuclear weapons.”[4][5] This setting is the Clock’s second-closest approach to midnight since its introduction.”

Yes, Arthra, it’s very alarming. Nuclear threats have been made against a number of specific targets, one of which is my country Australia as we are allies of the United States and are mutually bound by the ANZUS treaty, but nuclear accident due to miscalculation, or deliberate attack, will affect the entire world.
I look over the peaceful treed suburb I live in, with the sweet chatter of colorful Rainbow Lorikeets, and wonder if it will remain so or end up destroyed as has so many cities and towns affected by war.
Nuclear war could kill all humankind.

We should all be praying ceaselessly for peace and goodness to prevail.
And I do. I’m sure that many others also do.
May God send His Spirit of peace and healing upon those nations who pose serious danger to our planet,
and upon all of humankind.

God bless you

O Thou kind Lord! Thou hast created all humanity from the same stock. Thou hast decreed that all shall belong to the same household. In Thy Holy Presence they are all Thy servants, and all mankind are sheltered beneath Thy Tabernacle; all have gathered together at Thy Table of Bounty; all are illumined through the light of Thy Providence.

O God! Thou art kind to all, Thou hast provided for all, dost shelter all, conferrest life upon all. Thou hast endowed each and all with talents and faculties, and all are submerged in the Ocean of Thy Mercy.

O Thou kind Lord! Unite all. Let the religions agree and make the nations one, so that they may see each other as one family and the whole earth as one home. May they all live together in perfect harmony.

O God! Raise aloft the banner of the oneness of mankind.

O God! Establish the Most Great Peace.

Cement Thou, O God, the hearts together.

O Thou kind Father, God! Gladden our hearts through the fragrance of Thy love. Brighten our eyes through the Light of Thy Guidance. Delight our ears with the melody of Thy Word, and shelter us all in the Stronghold of Thy Providence.

Thou art the Mighty and Powerful, Thou art the Forgiving and Thou art the One Who overlooketh the shortcomings of all mankind.

Why would you find this atomic clock credible in any sense?
Then why do you avoid God’s Providence?
Alarmist and end times rumors may be scandalous or worse.
God must always allow for His creatures free will acts. If nuclear fire is the flame He allows for the destruction of mankind or even a new Noahbite restoration then it would be His Will and His Will be done.
100 years after Mary told the visionaries that marriage and the family are the last battle of The Kingdom you may be raising hyperbole in the wrong trajectory.
God’s mercy and love remain forever. If we do not blanket the world with love then His mercy may actwith divine justice in ways we do not understand.
The Chuch has always been for non-proliferation and against nuclear weapons. Maybe convincing others that church teaching is truth revealed by the one who is Truth ought to be the plan rather than worrying whether God is in charge or not. God is in charge. Thank Him for that grace.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

To answer the question posed in the title, yes, Catholics are praying for that. In my parish, for instance, our prayers of petition in the Sunday Mass have included prayers that world leaders may seek peaceful solutions to the current difficulties. This is broadly stated, but may easily be understood to include current tensions surrounding North Korea’s nuclear weapon and ballistic missile programs.

Catholics pray for world peace and for a resolution to nuclear crises when they occur, all the time.
Although belief in approved private apparitions is optional for Catholics, the Fatima apparition in which many believe carried a strong message of world peace through prayer.

Dear God, I humbly pray in Jesus’ name that you guide our world leaders to peaceful resolutions of all conflicts and that you save us from the horrors of nuclear explosions.
