Idea of Jesus death for sins of world

I know a protestant that seems to be big on the idea of Jesus “dying for the sin of the world.” And I guess for some reason sees no need for something like absolution. What exactly does that mean? I guess what do we believe concerning this ? Is it a protestant belief ?
 
His Death matters, but we should take up of it.

He Himself gave the apostles the ability to forgive sins.
 
Yes it matters but what is Catholic doctrine concerning this? As to your second sentence well this person seems to really have some trouble with that. I guess that God has allowed his eyes to be blinded to the scriptures even. The 7 precepts does not include, “though shalt go forth and pass out a Bible.” But you know protestants.
 
The liturgy of my Episcopal church goes like this:

“Jesus, our Passover is sacrificed for us. Therefore, let us keep the feast (communion.)”

I’ve discussed this with my priest, and it does seem to be Anglican theology that Jesus’ death is for the forgiveness sins.

But I don’t agree with this idea. As has been pointed out, Jesus had the power to forgive sins, so why would He need to undergo death by torture in order to persuade YHWH to forgive? It just doesn’t make sense.

Another issue is that our Creator is just, and having one person undergo torture for another’s shortcomings is not just.

My opinion is that Jesus was setting an example for mankind as to the extremes that YHWH expects men to go in following His Law. Jesus practiced what He preached, loving His enemies, returning good for evil, turning the other cheek, and, above all, trusting in His Father. His following the Law perfectly resulted in His brutal treatment, but even then He would not waver.
This is a profound teaching, and we should all prepare ourselves to follow His example if called to so so.

Jesus defeated evil and death, and His Work was infinitely meritorious that we can all partake in it and are all covered by it, His Faith and His suffering He willingly accepted.
