My 13-year old brother comes to Mass with me and my parents and prays at meals, but he is not baptized or confirmed and was not raised in the Catholic faith. I’m a convert myself. I came into the Church last Easter. He hasn’t read any Scripture, so I’ve started to read the Bible with him, one chapter of Luke every evening, starting yesterday. I’m doing my best to explain things as I read. I also plan to write out the Hail Mary and the Memorare for him to pray before he goes to bed at night. Does anyone have further ideas for evangelizing and catechizing my little brother? How can I briefly and best explain salvation history to him as we read Luke? He is at least willing to read the Bible with me and go to Mass, but I don’t want to push him too hard or make it seem like I’m forcing him in any way. Any good books that I can give him? He’s at a high school reading level, and he likes science, so if any of you know of a Catholic book out there that involves faith and science that would be great.
