I am hunting for ideas for Adult Spiritual Formation programs that can be led by dedicated lay people for a small rural parish. Our parish pastor is overwhelmed shepherding two parishes with two schools. We recently shared Women of Grace (excellent program!!) with 40 women with great sucess. Would like to find something for couples and/or singles. There is great yearning for scripture study. What is working for you in your parish? Thank you!

Once we established our Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration our blessings have not stopped! Shortly after starting the adoration chapel, we had huge successes with CRHP (Christ Renews His Parishes) for both men and women. Now we have had a massive parish-wide response to the Why Catholic program which we were are just kicking off this week.

I would recommend you institute perpetual Eucharistic adoration in your parish. The blessings will flow from Him!

Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut. Very aware of CRHP. Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is in place at our neighboring parish. Hope you will share your experience with Why Catholic. I’d like to know more about the actual needs of running it…is it necessary to have their workshops, etc?

A Scripture Study to truly be Catechetical should link Church teaching with Scripture.

You can use current new events to discuss how Catholic teaching is related to these events.

You can study Church Fathers, writings of the Early Church by topic.

You can study Scripture by topic.

You can study the Catechism, The Teaching of Christ by Fr. John Corapi is a 48 CD set that covers the entire Catechism.

You can read and study a Catholic book, like Augustine’s Confessions or another.

You can study the papal Encyclicals and Apostolic Letters one at a time.

You can read and study the History and Documents of Vatican II and how they apply today. Remember the 50th anniversary of many of them is coming up.

Most of the books by Fr. Oscar Lukefahr come with a study guide that can be used by a group.

That Man is You, a men’s spirituality program, thatmanisyou.com

all of the suggestions above are good

new US Catholic Catechism for adults with study guide from Our Sunday Visitor (much easier to use than the one on the bishops website, although that is a free download)

Revisiting the Journey by Liguori, “handouts” on the 4 catechism section similar to their journey of Faith series for RCIA, but intended for existing Catholics who what to learn more about the CCC.
