I asked a parishioner who was the celebrant of the previous Mass, and it was the same priest that celebrated the mass I attended an hour later.
Would he have consumed the host on both occasions?
I am just curious.
He conducted the ceremony with such inspiration and saintly attitude, that nobody would have said that was a second Mass for him that morning. We are happy to have such pastor.🙂

Yes, the celebrant must consume the Body and Blood of Christ. This completes the sacrifice. Here is what Redemptionis Sacramentum states:
[97.] A Priest must communicate at the altar at the moment laid down by the Missal each time he celebrates Holy Mass, and the concelebrants must communicate before they proceed with the distribution of Holy Communion. The Priest celebrant or a concelebrant is never to wait until the people’s Communion is concluded before receiving Communion himself.183
I hope this helps.

Yes he can and does, so long [as is nearly always the case] there is good reason for him saying more than one Mass. Thanks for asking.

Is the priest subject to the same one hour fasting before communion that we parishioners
are subject to?
His consumption of the first host does not break the fasting for the second,if less than 60 minutes pass inbetween communion?
I realize it sounds like a silly question .

For priests celebrating consecutive Masses, the one-hour fast requirement is dispensed. That means they can grab a bite to each before the second Mass.

NOT silly at all:)

If the priest for reason of necessity has to say more than one Mass, he must fast for the first Mass but is permitted to eat something before the second Mass. 👍
