Hiyas:)

The OP question: “**If Catholicism is the True Church of Christ, Why Are Not Catholics Knocking on Doors?”

Seems to suggest that: Only knocking on doors would make the Catholic Church The True Church of Jesus.

The fallacy in this is to assume that because they knock on doors ] it creates the True Church - So… the person asking this question an LDS faithful ] would have to admit that JW’s hold the True Church…OR any other Church that does these pratices.

An interesting and logical thinking, that an LDS would admit that there is another True Church outside themselves, as long as the member go from door to door evangelizing.

wmscott needing a escort for what? Sorry if I came in late on this thread.

Regarding the issue of escorts, those of you have no temple recommends to go into a temple, why would you be interested? Become a member and prepare to go to the temple.

Going to any church building for a time wedding, which is open for anyone to attend, involves no escort.

Are these temple services something different than “regular” Mormon services? Because there’s a Mormon building where they hold their services in the town I live in now and it has a big sign on the outside saying “Visitors Welcome”, so I’m assuming you don’t need to be a member to attend whatever services go on there.

Let me say this, I am asking the question in the spirit of trying to gain knowledge and understanding. As a Christian or as a matter of fact most anyone can go into any Christian church without any prior permission or escort. Everything is out in the open and welcoming to all. Since it was stated by a LDS and you in this thread that an escort would be needed for LDS services, I am curious as to why? I do not know the answer and if I do not ask, I will never know why.

Yes there is a difference between the local LDS Ward houses (parishes) and the LDS Temples.

Anyone can attend the wards.

Only Mormons in good standing and with what is known as a current temple recommend can attend the temple.

In the temples proxy “work for the dead” is done (IE baptism, confirmation, washing and anointings, endowments and sealings take place)

For the living temples are were they go for their washing and anointings, endowments and sealings (marriages)

As a Knight of Columbus I have, and I have friends and Family in the Legion of Mary that have as well.

I recognize my church’s efforts in spreading the gospel, by knocking on doors as the Jehovah’s Witnesses as well (I have had countless JWs knocking on my door), why if the Catholic church is the true church of Christ are not Catholics knocking on doors and spreading Catholicism?

This is kind of off topic, but it peaked my curiosity nonetheless (my mind tends to wander to strange places :p). What happens when a JW visits an LDS, and vice versa? Because, they both believe in an Apostasy, and that they’re the “restored” Church of Christ, but they believe such vastly different things. I’d love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation!

(Of course, I’d also love to get a radical traditionalist Catholic-the kind who believe Protestants aren’t really Christians and are going to hell w/ all the other nonChristians-in the same room w/ an anti-Catholic Fundamentalist who thinks that Catholics aren’t Christians and are going to hell and listen in on that**** conversation! But I’m kind of warped like that :D).
