Kolbe300, the culture of death has had a strong effect on marriages, too. I know that both my ex and I entered our teenage mistake believing that if things went wrong, we could just get a divorce. We both came from broken homes; that’s where we learned that bad idea.Am I the only one that thinks it should be just the opposite, that an annulment should only be granted “every once in a while.”
After my conversion, the Church declared that attempt at marriage null.
With the current state of things, many Catholics are entering marriage with wrong reasons. If so many Catholics are contracepting, it’s obvious that they don’t know the real basis of marriage. Many are fornicating, too.
So it does not surprise me that most annulments are granted.
If there was universally excellent catechesis in the Church (including homilies), *and *all people were married without influence from modern culture, then I’d agree with you.
God save us!
