If honoring Mary, why not them!

Ignatius:
Not to mention the fact that, even if we did know who their mothers were, the children they bore were not the Son of God!
Well, not exactly: we do honour the saints. If their lives were holy, then there’s no reason the Church should not honour them. But since there’s no record of who they were and what they did, then there’s nothing the Church can do about that.

**And did they tell you their point in wanting to introduce you to someone who’s already physically dead? Why do they want you to communicate with a dead saint? **

The only “point” is that Mary and the rest of the saints ARE NOT DEAD! Jesus tells us they are not. They are alive with Christ. Moreso than we are. How wonderful that someone in heaven with Jesus can bring my prayers to Him and also intercede for me. They are aware of what goes on here on earth. Of course, they probably won’t take you seriously if you try to show them all the (approved) appaitions of Mary and other saints. Jews, to this day, pray for their dead - for 11 months after their death, for their souls to be with God. It’s called the Kiddish (I think that’s the name of the prayers). So, praying for the dead has been around for, oh, say, 5000 years! Obviously, God had taught His people that the dead needed their prayers - you know how strict they were about following the Word of God! Apparently, the early church fathers thought the same way and taught such!

Nicole, It’s not Jesus – not the biblical Jesus anyway – that is pointing you to his human mother, it’s other people who apparently don’t have their complete focus where the biblical Jesus tells us to ‘look’. The real Jesus always did and still does direct a believer’s heart/attention to the Father!
Don’t you let them tell you it’s not Jesus - who are they to tell you that? All of the devotions that we hold dear, all point towards Jesus. I believe they are all afraid to deepen their relationship with Christ - they are afraid of that!
The Wedding at Cana, Mary tells the servants to “Do as He tells you!”. She (and the saints) always lead us to Jesus. It’s because of Jesus that they were able to live the kind of lives they led. They are an example to us because of Jesus and nothing they did by themselves and if they left anything written behind, that’s what they’ll tell you. Our focus is always Jesus! But, of course, you know that!

Keep learnin’ girl!
