I’m posting the prayer request here because it is for an LDS. If it must be in another forum, please accept my humblest apologies and move it.

In case you didn’t know, I’ve been dating an LDS girl for quite a while. She’ll be going to RCIA starting the 15th, but she has no intention yet of becoming Catholic. She’s going to be pondering an important decision in the next few days, one that could significantly impact the important decision later on. Please pray for guidance for her now and during the next eight months. If she doesn’t enter the Church in that time, then I’m afraid it may be a very long time before she does, if ever. So please, pray for both of us. God bless you.

I read your request. I wondered what is the best reply that I, as a Mormon, could give to that. Well, I can’t exactly pray for you girlfriend to become a Catholic. I would be hypocritical if I did that. So I will pray that the Lord will open your eyes so that you will see the light, become a Mormon! Is that a good prayer, do you think?

After all, you do get a better deal you know, if you marry your girlfriend in the LDS Church. The LDS Church is the only Church that can marry you to your wife not just for time, but for all eternity as well. Now don’t you think that is a better deal? If you really love your wife, you will want to be with her forever, not just for time. You wouldn’t want to wake up in the resurrection to the disappointing realization that she is no longer your wife, would you?

I would also ponder when Jesus said to Peter, get behind me Satan.
As to marriage:
** It was not what was offered by the devil in the dessert was bad, it’s just that it was not offered by God. If we have dreams of being with God forever and we place all of our heart and soul in Him we will find our families in Him, our wives, husbands, children, etc… will be found in Him and no where else. Because in the end what we loved about them was from God. Our desire must be to spend an eternity together with our sole God, sharing in the love that the Father and Son have always shared. This is the great gift given to creation. What Christ has always had. There is no greater gift to receive. **

In heaven we will all be as one and love will be so much more than we could ever imagine. If a women or a man says, “don’t you want to be married to me throughout all eternity” Remind him or her that you would rather choose God first and take your chances. We have a man at our RCIA class who once told his wife that he loved her more than anything in the whole world. She told him in a nice way that she loved Jesus more than Him. He was not yet Catholic and did not understand this. He was hurt by it. Now he understands, and he knows why his wife has stood by him in some very hard times. He knows that the reason she is still with him is because of her love for Christ. This love rubbed off onto him. Now they both love Christ more than each other. I have not often seen to people love each other the way they do. But then I have my wife of 25 years. It is awesome. Death do we part? Never, when you place God above all things. **

It would probably be better just to pray for guidance for us, but any prayers are appreciated (Rom. 8:26).

I don’t have to worry about it, because if we go to Heaven, I will be united with her more perfectly than the most perfect marriage in this world, as well as to everyone else who loves God.
 
How about this:

I pray that throughout the RCIA you both will study the words of the Lord, that you both will study what is presented and learn what it means, after this I pray that you both will be guided by the Holy Spirit in discerning what is truly of God. I pray that you will learn what the both of you need to truly grow closer to God for the purpose of serving him. Finally I pray that above all HIS will be done. In th ename of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I pray that God will shed his grace and mercy on you both.

Rom 8:26 …for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

As a young couple it is much more important to be in tune spiritually and on the same path to guide your children, than it is as an older couple with grown children, such as my husband and I. Good luck and my prayer is added to those of the others.

Absolutely! Isn’t it tragic that so many couples have to learn this the hard way, and at the expense of their children?

I’ll second BJ’s prayers that you may have guidance especially on how you will be raising children. With our split household when I remarried, (4 kids Catholic, 4 kids LDS), I’m thankful we have been respectful of each other’s faiths. If we were to adopt another one, I’m not convinced we could agree how we would raise the child. Good luck and you have my prayers as well.

I too can not pray that one will see each others respect “light” making it a confrontation. However, I will pray that Heavenly Father’s will my be revealed to you both in this matter. My best wishes to you both.

It’s a joint decision, so she’s your hero too. 🙂 It maybe wouldn’t be wrong, but we both agree it wouldn’t be a good idea.

Update:

Thank you to all who prayed. The crisis is averted for now, but please keep praying; we will need it as the week goes on (especially with RCIA starting this week).

This is getting kind of scary and kind of encouraging. I think the devil is getting desperate.
 
I too will pray for you two believe me I know how scary it can be I to am scared I will be starting RCIA classes soon and am frightened to pieces.
 
We are going through RCIA with a friend this year, Our sincere prayer is with you. God shows the clarity that we need if we only hear Him. Implore the Holy Spirit to filll her heart with His Wisdom now.
