If I miss Mass for reasons other than sickness or travel, etc, is it true i need to go to Confession before I can partake of the Eucharist?

If you miss a mass by your own fault, first immediately try to find another mass on that day, but if you fail to do so, (and your first occasion of missing mass was entirely due to your intentional failure to get there) then you have committed a grave sin of failing your Sunday obligation.
This, if mortal, must be confessed before receiving communion.
To clarify, if you miss mass because of external situations which you had no control over, and there is absolutely no way to avoid it, (or if you obtain a dispensation from your parish priest) then there is no sin committed. It is when you intentionally do something to miss mass (carelessly get there 30 minutes late, on purpose, or just decide not to go at all because of a football game or other reason) that is becomes a mortal sin.

It really depends on WHY you missed Mass. There are other very good reasons to miss Mass.

There are a few more reasons the Church considers good enough to dispense us from the obligation, like caring for the sick. They are in the Baltimore Catechism.
Otherwise, the answer to your question is: yes.

well, the truth is i went to a non-Catholic church at the request of a friend, and I did miss my Mass obligation, that is the reason for my question.

Ah, there we go. Boulder is right.
You should take this to your parish priest and ask him to guide you through this. Attending non-Catholic services does no fulfill your Sunday obligation, so talk to your priest to ascertain if you sinned mortally.

You sure? I would think when someone refers to “I” in their question, it may be an indication they are asking personally. I’m not suggesting they are, but to say there is “no evidence” is not an accurate representation of the way the question was worded.
