Because I have SSA and probably not going to be attracted to a woman (though maybe God will help me find some woman attractive), I was wondering, should I get a dog so I’m not lonely?
How do I prevent this from being animal idolatry?

I am a single woman in her early thirties. I do not know if I will get married. (Which I admit can be a hard reality sometimes.) Anyways, I have a 9 year old Boston Terrier, named Abbott. (He is a rescue and was probably treated very poorly before his former owner relinquished him.) I 💖 my dog, plain and simple. I do not worship my dog. He is a creature of God’s, and I am charged with his care. Because God delights in all his creation.
Abbott gives me ❤️ in return. And because he needs to socialize, I socialize too. He provides alot to my life. He did not give me life.
If you are considering a dog, please do not hesitate to ask me questions. 😊

just remember that an animal can never replace a friend. You still need them. for myself personally, I don’t even want a dog, because I know I need to get out of my current lonely situation, not get more comfortable in it. Just some thoughts.

Is this another way of surrendering yourself to the pseudo-identity of “SSA”? If not, then fine. If this dog will be the seal on the casket of your happiness, then… no.

Good advice ,and good of you to offer help.
Having a dog should be fine, having a regular reason to walk and meet other dog walkers ,going to the park is great.
As a single guy before we married, my husband did a really good job of training and disciplining his dog and
saw many people out on walks .I love the way he will ask St Francis to watch out for his buddy when he has to drive alone some place.

Abbott Ramses Francis L**, full name. Lol!
That is awesome!!! Thank you for the feedback! My ❤️ button overloaded. So I am sending you one here. 😀
