If one misses Ascension Thursday, does he have to go to Ascension Sunday?

We attend TLM as a family, but my son who works an evening shift on Thursdays forgot that the only TLM mass was in the evening on Ascension Thursday and so will not be able to attend. Should he go the the Sunday Ascension celebration at the NO, or would it be acceptable to attend the TLM Sunday mass, even though it won’t be the Ascension liturgy?

He may attend the Latin Mass this weekend. He didn’t miss the Ascension Mass on purpose.
