… then would there be any victims?

Are there people who are living in the North of Ireland right now who – because of their ancestry – are at risk in case of future independence of the North of Ireland from the UK? To prevent a tragedy, maybe they should begin immediately to pursue political power in communities within the North of Ireland.

After Uganda gained independence, people of “Asian” descent were deported. In searching for information on this topic, you might find that the year 1972 is a helpful keyword. Only some of those who had anticipated a need to acquire official citizenship papers before an unannounced deadline were spared deportation.

In the USA, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, a state of war existed with the Empire of Japan, and citizens of the USA who had been born in the USA were placed into internment camps. Theoretically, they could have sought to be elected as President of the USA, unlike Henry Kissinger, who has never been a natural born citizen of the USA. However, in practice it’s difficult to have a successful election campaign for leadership of a country when one is confined in an internment camp within that country.

England gives Northern Ireland £15 billion every year. The only way they will vote for independence is if the Republic of Ireland unites with them but they couldn’t afford that amount of money so it won’t happen.

Plus as I understand it the majority of Northern Irish would not vote to leave the UK.

My Irish citizen husband says the economy would not survive as an independent entity.
They can hope, but it’s highly doubtful. :shamrock2:

Neither would Scotland----not with their current ideas. The movement I think is really about getting financial support through various means in the EU.
