I think they would each keep their respective names, just as the ECCs have kept their names – Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Maronite Church, etc.

If that happens, its about time we take back the name “Christian”.

We already use both Orthodox and Catholic, and we’ll call you whatever you want to be called. The Orthodox view of “reunion” doesn’t see a single organization.

the protestants stole that one.
That is why we should take it back. By the way, the Orthodox really haven’t stopped using “Orthodox Christians,” we still use it in the Divine Liturgy. But a united Church should have the name that we’ve had since Antioch was founded, “Christian”.

I see a five step process.
  1. All protestants unite into one group and call themselves "The United Protestant Assembly."
  2. All Catholic groups unite as one (including groups like SSPX) and call themselves
    "The Catholic Church."
  3. All Orthodox jurisdictions unite as one and call themselves "The Holy Orthodox Church."
  4. "The United Protestant Assembly" comes into full communion with “The Catholic Church” retaining the name, "The Catholic Church."
  5. "The Catholic Church" and “The Holy Orthodox Church” unite and call themselves "The Christian Church."
This should take about 50,000 years. 😃

The Catholic Orthodox Church?

That, or The Churches Formerly Known As Catholic and Orthodox 😃

I think the first one would be nice. 🙂
