If the Saints had an Ipod

Mozart, Beethoven and Coldplay

Nothing else.

Well, maybe Tchaikovsky.

Gregorian Chant!😃

Most likely the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. They would probably have a lot of worship music. But most of the saints were big on silence so they would probably have mostly prayers.

I reckon they’d have audiobooks of the Bible and other spiritual classics, and maybe contemporary homilies, as well as any prayers they wanted and any music that lifted their minds to God (St Hildegard of Bingen wrote her own music - absolutely glorious stuff).

And I reckon the red priest Vivaldi would’ve gotten a look in 🙂

Won’t you all be shocked when it turns out God can’t get enough Black Sabbath? 😃

Augustine: Throbbing Gristle, Social Distortion, Talking Heads
Francis of Assisi: Robert Johnson, Johnny Cash, Death in June
Ignatius of Loyola: Laibach, Killing Joke, Elvis Costello
John Vianney: Manic Street Preachers, Funkadelic, Janis Joplin

What would be on it?
The entire DIVINE OFFICE aka Liturgy Of The Hours, arranged for simple reading with NO, I repeat, NO need to flip back and forth among pages, nor worry about which set of prayers was required, if the day were a Solemnity, Commemoration, or whatever.

Just type in day, month, and year, and PRESTO…all you need to read, say, and pray; all seven hours.

My guess is they’d have nothing earthly on it. They probably have more interesting things to listen to in heaven :p.

Well, I imagine these three songs at least.

The first one is Ave Maria, by Celtic Woman.
The second is Salve Regina by the monks of the Abbey of Notre Dame.
The third one is a beautiful Litany of the Saints by Matt Maher

And those pranksters like myself might like to slip this little Elton John number in on their iPods, all sneaky like…Start up a few rumors. 😃

"Arrr! I pirate my music!"

Though…They might also have an audio guidebook on how to USE the iPod. Most of them are so old that we’d have to explain that they aren’t tools of Satan.

I can just imagine them clinging from the ceiling of the cathedral, shrieking like banshees after picking up the wrong iPod and listening to “Lamb of God” by mistake. 😃

Then again, knowing me, I’d probably teach them to download that just to see their reaction. I’m so evil.

Oh, but see, it wouldn’t be on there willingly. For in the dead of night, I’d be the one sneaking around and sticking the extra songs on the iPods to scare the Jesus out of them. Or into them even more.

Not really sure how that one works. Funny little buggers, those saints.

But yeah, I have to agree. I’m not much of a fan of Elton John, but that’s definately my favourite one by him.

I think that EWTN ipod broadcasts would be a big hit with the saints.

And I do have to say, that the photo (above) of dear Mother Angelica… just after suffering a stroke (which is why she is wearing the eye patch) isn’t funny. It hurt me, very much… to see it used in a humorous way. 😦

We should all be grateful to God for the life of Mother Angelica. She has helped millions, in getting the Gospel message on the airways. She deserves our utmost respect.

Mother Angelica… we love you.

I just looked up nuns on Google. I have no clue who half these people are. I was going to get a picture of a scared looking nun and photoshop an iPod into the image, but I couldn’t find one. =/

So that was the next best thing.

Never really understood why people can’t make the best of a bad situation, though. I mean, if I was in that woman’s place, I’d love people to joke about with me. It’d make me feel heaps better than hearing that horrible, generic “Oh gee, I’m SO sorry to hear that.”

That stuff is not only depressing, but…I dunno. It just sounds insincere, no matter who it’s coming from.

That’s just me, I guess.

Poking lighthearted fun at things and having a laugh is good for the soul. It does nobody any good to be miserable and get offended at things. If we all went that way, we’d be crotchety old hags with no love for anything.

So put a smile on your dial. Because I’m the court jester in my world. 😃

Humor. I has it.

Hi Noske. I’m certainly not going to ream you out about this. Because I know that your intention was to be humorous. (I too, have a sense of humor 😉 ). However, I would like to “introduce” you to Mother Angelica. She is a very dear figure to many Catholics, in the United States. That is why the above photo hurt me. We love her, dearly. If you’d like to read her biography… here is a link. She is a remarkable lady and a mystic. I would recommend Raymond Arroyo’s book, to all.

I would ask you, though… for future… to remember that all those “funny” photos of nuns… may not make a good impression on people who come to this forum to discern their faith in the Catholic Church. Many of those “funny” photos are of real live sisters. Women who have consecrated themselves to Our Lord, Jesus Christ… and have spent a lifetime, serving Him and the Church. Mother Angelica, certainly falls into that catagory.

And posting such a photo, in my opinion… shows a lack of respect. God bless.

(S_V7… sorry, I don’t mean to hijack your thread).

Hm. Interesting. Still, even if I met these people in real life, I’d be poking fun at them. I act on here as I do all the time. I like eyepatches. I want one. Closest I came to having one was when I was hit in the face with a boomerang, and then got spaghetti sauce on the big patch they had over it before I was due for surgery.

ANYWAY!

Yes. Saints. iPods.

Hey, maybe their battle song can be “When The Saints Go Marching In.” Yes…I can imagine it now. Jesus is the quarterback, and Jehanne would definately be perfect for whoever that little dude is that bolts off down the field as fast as he can to catch the ball.

Amen! That would be the best! And it would decide wether to use the Common of Holy Men or the Common of Pastors for St. John Bocso ect.

Someone should really do this!

hmm…what about a secular song? Any remind you of a particuar saint or their life?

Trinity Vineyard : Prayers of the Saints might be on there. My favorites are the Prayer of St. Augustine and the Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas (acoustic), that one is real nice and mellow.
