We as catholics believe that you spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. We don’t see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. We believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

If you could choose what happened to you after death, would you choose this?
And also, when you read that passage, its a very hard thing to beleive,im not doubting my religion but as a human, that is quite a hard thing to believe!
Anyone agree when i say this?

I try my best to choose it, but sometimes it is easy to be shortsighted and to choose worldy things over it. It’s harder than it seems to make the right choice, but I’m doing my best to stay out of mortal sin.

I don’t really understand what you’re saying. What’s so hard to believe?

I find the fact that as human being, seeing what ive seen is only things here on earth, and when we speak about dying and going to a kingdon of god and spending eternal life there for eternity,it kind of seems a bit too good to be true or unrealistic,im totally not doubting catholism but you might agree with me in a way about what happens when we die being quite odd!

I really can’t explain what im trying to say but dont get me wrong,im not doubting anything about my relgion, its my faith!

I understand where you are coming from. It is hard to imagine (which is why it can be tempting to reject it). Think of it this way:

A fish who lives his whole life at the bottom of the ocean would have absolutely no concept of what it was like to be in air. I could explain it to him all day, but unless he actually comes to the surface, he’ll never comprehend it. That’s like us and heaven. We’re so immersed in this world, we can’t comprehend Heaven. When we get there it will all make sense.

Genesis, that has really made me think, that was a total perfect explaination, and has confirmed my belief even more,!

Like you say,its quite easy to reject the relgion, but when you explained about the fish in the water, that has cleared up all queries!
Thank you

Glad it helped. I always have to remember that little analogy especially when thinking about how God is outside of time. I can’t imagine being outside of time just like the fish can’t imagine being outside of the water:D .
