If you could have only 4 physical senses, which do you think you could best live without?

I voted smell. I know someone with that issue and he can’t taste very well either, but it’s still worth not missing music or being blind.

My sense of smell has never been especially good. This is a trait which I think runs in my family. At times a poor sense of smell is a blessing, but even so I would miss it if I had none at all.

Smell seems to be the one for me. It would have the least amount of impact on my life. And losing that sense would sometimes come in handy. 😜

I think we have trouble that way too, I remember my dad telling me that noses run in my family.

I chose smell. I think this is because it’s the one I could do without. I was a heavy smoker years ago, until three years ago, having started on cigars at nine years of age it’s not surprising that my sense of smell is poor.

Even though my answer would be “smell”, I said “taste” only because without a sense of smell, I’d have no sense of taste anyway. So then I’d be down two senses. 😄

Yes, smell and taste are pretty much the same sense. I was torn between smell and hearing as a choice. It would be kind of nice not to hear certain things. I have a fan on everynight while I sleep to drown out other noises. So maybe what I need is a permanent white noise function I can turn on and off at will. 🙂

I managed to get quite bad tinnitus from noisy computer fans in the old days. It got worse too and it’s pretty much white noise but I can’t turn it off.

Ear plugs would be good but that may interfere with an alarm. I’d move or improve, better glazing or sound proofing the walls. Insulation board is good and approx 15mm thick, 3/4”.

I voted vision. Then I would wander the countryside like blind Zatoichi the Swordsman, righting wrongs and bringing justice to the oppressed with my remaining heightened senses.

i could never do without smell, taste and touch. Smell is so very important to me.
Smell and taste are related.

I could do without the others.

I also have tinitus. Another reason for the fan at night. I find it helps tremendously.

That’s good. I tried an interfering sound thing once but the effect lasted for thirty seconds maximum.

I spoke to the top man in my country about it and told me it’s incurable and millions are afflicted with it. Whoever finds a cure will become a very rich man not only monetarily I think.
