If you die saving someone is that a automatic ticket to heaven?

My mother seems to believe it would send you to heaven or purgatory even if you have a mortal sin on your soul. Or if you reject god, basically no matter what.

Think of someone you consider one of the most evil persons in history. If that individual died saving another person would you consider that a “get out of hell free pass?”

In and of itself, good things are things that we are *supposed *to do (Luke 17:10). We cannot earn our way into heaven.
