Hello,

Amazon gave me a $10 ebook credit and I forgot about it, it is due to expire very soon.

I wanted to purchase something on the faith but my time is limited to really explore.

So, if you had an amazon $10 e-book credit what would you buy that deals with any aspect of Catholicism?

I was looking at some of the ebooks that include massive writings of the church fathers (64 authors, 100’s of books $2.99) but the reviews tend to read like ads. Can anyone recommend one of these that is easy to navigate on a kindle? these are public domain but the convenience is worth $2.99 IMHO

I have Jimmy Akins “Fathers Know Best”

I would go over $10 for something really good

thanks in advance

You can find pdfs and apps (like iPieta) of ECF works online for free, so unless you are purchasing a commentary on an ECF writing, I wouldn’t bother. As to what then you should buy, it depends. What are you interested in reading?

I have the app but haven’t used it beyond prayers, I will look into it, thanks

I was thinking of the kindle version for travel, my phone screen isn’t good for outside reading and the size is lacking. I like the kindle oasis with physical buttons to turn pages

I have plenty of non-religious books to read, so I wanted something on catholicism, not sure beyond that. I will look at any suggestions.

Oof, that’s a broad subject… 😅 If you had to choose, would you prefer something more spiritual or more educational on the Faith?

educational

I should start a thread on amazon reviews, they are allover the place. It is hard to pick the real reviews out, some blast a book when it is obvious they didn’t read it.

Thanks

Have you read anything by Dr. Brant Pitre? I’ve read his book “Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist”, and it’s fascinating. He links Catholic teachings to ancient Judaic practices.

I have the Amazon app on both my phone and my Samsung tablet. I like the tablet for reading - easier to see and have so many samples that I’ve downloaded of all the books I’d like to buy - money permitting.

Some suggestions - (don’t know if any are less than $10)
  1. Any Books by Peter Kreeft
  2. Confession It’s Fruitful Practice
  3. Books written by Fulton Sheen
  4. Arise from Darkness Benedict Groeschel
  5. Dr Edward Peters Excommunication & the Catholic Church
  6. The Little Manual for Spiritual Growth John C Portavella
  7. Tears of God Benedict Groeschel
  8. Learning the Virtues that Lead you to God - Romano Guardini
  9. Practice the Presence of God - Brother Lawrence
  10. The Fourth Cup - Scott Hahn
  11. Spiritual counsels of Father de Caussade
  12. The Art of Loving God - St Francis de Sales
  13. Humility Rules St. Benedicts 12 step guide to genuine self-esteem - J Augustine Wetta O.S.B. St. Louis Abbey
  14. The Spiritual Combat and a Treatise on Peace of Soul - Dom Lorenzo Scupoli
  15. A Shorter Summa - Peter Kreeft
  16. Catholic Theology - Tracey Rowland

“Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist”,
buyers have rated this highly, thanks.

I sent a sample to my kindle

I bought the kindle oasis (last years model) when it was on sale, I like the larger screen (7 inches) and physical page-turning buttons

Thanks for the list,
