If you have more people praying for you does that help you more?

How does having so many people praying for you help you? Like if you are praying for protection for someone, do you have to pray for that? Why wouldnt God just give that person protection? And if you choose not to pray for someone, does that put this person in a worse situation? How do our prayers help others and if someone didnt have anyone praying for them would they be helped?
 
:bible1: James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.​

Well, this was something that happened in our parish. A young lady went missing for a couple of days and fortunately she was found. A lot of prayer requests were requested and provided as well as assistance to help find the young lady. Fortuantely after a pair of days the young lady was found ok and the Father provided a thank to all who had prayed for her, not going into specifics but he said his daughter survived an ordeal where certain things miraculous happened and thus her life was spared.

I believe in the power of having many people pray for you.
