If you keep feeling drawn to Catholicism despite many doubts, should you just go to Church anyway?

Hey guys! So I’m aware that I’ve posted several questions regarding this issue lately but I was just hoping to maybe get a few more answers here so I can figure out the best course of action.

I feel drawn to Catholicism. In fact, I just can’t escape it and I’m not sure why. I’ve tried to go my own way in life (failing miserably I might add), investigating others faiths, etc but I always come back to the Catholic faith. Obviously I have many doubts about the Catholic faith and I’m hesitant. However, as hard as it is to deny myself and BE Catholic, I can’t be at peace unless I return to Church and do my best to live a Catholic life. I wish I knew why I’m drawn to Catholicism. I wish I could just snap my fingers and make my doubts go away. I have digested lots of apologetic responses to my doubts and for the most part, they don’t really add up to me, yet, here I am, still drawn to the faith. I dunno. I’d love your insights. Ty

Why don’t you call in and speak to one of the apologist on Catholic answers?

Why don’t you write down your doubts and ask them here?

I have. But to me that Wager also is an opposite one. What if a person lives their lives according to what the Church teaches and it turns out that Christianity is false?

I mean, I guess if Christianity turns out to be false, I wouldn’t know anyway when I die lol. I dunno.

But let’s say you get to a point where you’ve studied the top five religions that you believe are possible and you narrow it down between Catholicism and Atheism.

For you it might be Catholicism and Buddhism correct?

Yea, that’s exactly the two. I suppose with Buddhism, it’s easier in a way; there’s isn’t this strict morality based on the supernatural. It’s based on Cause and Effect, not some afterlife or a God that we don’t even know even exists. I dunno.

Easier doesn’t mean something is true or not. ☺️

What reasons is there to believe in Buddhism/your type of Buddhism?

Besides it being an easier religion for you.

I’m really not sure how to answer that. I mean, at the end of the day, I’m not sure it’s actually helping me to live a better life. shrug maybe that’s why I’m clinging to Catholicism?

Haha I can relate to this post. I became Catholic last year and I had doubts in Rcia and still joined. Even now I have major doubts about some things. But like you I always come back. Simply because my spirit likes it here. My spirit loves confessing my sins before the priest.

Despite my major doubts, I, nonetheless, have grown in holiness and humility in my personal life.

Thanks for your reply.

Well the thing is do you want to spend the rest of your life practice a religion that’s easy to practice for you … or do you want to practice a religion that you believe is true?

If the Catholic Jesus is real and true then that means the Eucharist is God under the appearance of bread.

It means God walked on Earth. 🌎

What evidence or reason is there for me to believe in Buddha? And his teachings? Does he answer the question of what is the uncaused cause if there is one? How did we get here?

Maybe it would be a good idea to schedule an appointment with your parish priest for a discussion.

It’s good to hear you are drawn to the Catholic faith in spite of your doubts. I’ve been in a similar place in the past, for sure. Praying for you in the meantime. 🙂

Well, I’d love to find THE truth and go from there but it seems like Catholicism is just all based on hearsay.

The Catholic Church is infectious. The more you read, listen, or learn about it, the more truth will be brought to you. And the more you learn about it, the more graces you will easily see in your life.
Things will start to make sense sooner or later once you realize how much God loves you and how much he wants you to return His love through the Catholic Church.
I am more sure of this than I am of anything else in my life.
So much has changed in my life and so many ideas I have had about God and life in general has been made so much more clear with Jesus as my guide and with Mary’s prayers.
You will hunger for the Eucharist. You will look forward to praising Him. And you will realize that with Mary praying to God with you and interceding for you,
Anything. Is. Possible.
God bless you for following this call.
Welcome home.

I strongly support this!!

My priest has been a big help. I remember him saying that he too question things some times. It’s really nice to have someone to speak with in person who knows the faith. Someone who isn’t trying to convert you but only help you understand. I’ll probably book another appointment with him.

Definitely meet with him in person or email etc 🙂

The thing is, I’ve spoken to a priest and basically all I’ve gotten is, “have faith”. Well, if that’s the case, then why not believe in any religion?

Not every priest is a great apologist or speaker…
My faith has grown immensly through prayer, the Rosary, and my own research.
I can’t say my priest, who is an excellent guy, is the particular reason for my growth in faith.
