He is such a sad, angry man. I can’t help but wonder that he got hurt very badly somewhere along the way and is very, very angry with God. I imagine that he told God that since He allowed ‘whatever’ to happen that he was going to do everything he could to make people not believe in Him.

He needs prayer - his own and ours.

Hitchens is a former Marxist, still a man of the political Left, and very much an iconoclast who follows his own path. He is currently reviled on the Left for his support of the Iraq War.

His trajectory seems at this point to be similar to Whittaker Chambers, so there may be hope for him yet. Oscar Wilde converted, and who would’ve thought that possible?

That said, if he does, he’s gonna spend a LOT of time in Purgatory for what he said about Mother Theresa when she passed away!
