I’m making this post for Future Catholics that may come, who are now considering joining the LDS Church. I am not looking to debate current LDS members. This is to encourage the individual to seek out more information than the missionaries will teach them. I support informed consent!!

Most likely you’ve been meeting with awesome and kind missionaries. After each discussion with you they ask you to do something. Often with the phrase "Will you…? Will you pray to know the Book of Mormon is true? Will you come to church this Sunday? Will you live the Word of Wisdom? Will you live the law of Chastity? Will you pay tithing when you’re a member? We’re holding a baptismal service this Saturday at 10am will you come?

The big one: "we have prayed and the spirit confirmed to us that you will be prepared to be baptized on this specific date: February 17th (usually it’s a date that is very soon)
Will you follow the saviour by preparing yourself to get baptized on the 17th?

I met with the missionaries and went through all of their lessons. These were all the questions that I have been asked and commitments to make.

It wasn’t until recently I asked myelf why did I even consider becoming Mormon. The Mormons wanted me to pray to know that their Church was true. Yet, I never prayed to know if MY Church was true, I never prayed to know if the Bible was true. I never prayed about Pope Francis. I realized that I should apply their principles to my own Church.

The missionaries and Moroni said that when I pray with true intent the Holy Ghost will confirm the truth of all things to me. The Holy Ghost will give me a feeling of peace and joy or even warmth. Then I would know with certainty that the Book of Mormon is true and that the LDS Church is Christ’s only true church on the earth today led by a prophet. But I was skeptical! I know that many people of every religion experiences the same feelings and confirmation.

In fact, those same emotions I experienced confirmed to me that Islam was the true religion and that Muhammad was the last Prophet of God and I converted. So, can we really rely on that feeling as being the spirit? Even if one was given the LDS Holy Ghost at confirmation. This same feeling/spirit is confirming to other people that other faiths are true.

I love the LDS people, I admire their values, I like the closeknit community- which is unmatched! But I also got the feeling that they just wanted more converts. They discouraged/ cautioned me from reading things on the internet about the church. I am happy that I did my own research because I know that any person would want to promote the positives of their faith.

To the person who is investigating/ studying the Mormon church with the missionaries please research on your own terms from mutliple soruces- even from current members and former members. This is your eternity at stake, you need to be informed- you deserve to be informed!

I found the CES Letter by Jeremy Runnells to be helpful and every topic was thoroughly researched. Even if you become LDS after reading it. I wish you a happy and healthy life.

If you’ve been reading the Book of Mormon then by now you notice there are a plethora of verses that are exactly identical to the King James Bible. How can that be when the golden plates Joseph Smith translated into the Book of Mormon is said to predate the King James Bible?

The LDS Church is proud to be Christ’s only true church. In the Book of Mormon all other churches are said to belong to Satan. Yet, Blacks were not allowed to receive saving ordinances in the temple- which is big part to the LDS Plan of Salvation until 1978!!! The LDS prophet at the time got a new revelation from God to allow all worthy men the priesthood. In fact, the real motivation was that the Church owned College, BYU, was at risk of losing their IRS tax exempt status, their athletics was being boycotted, and the missionaries had a hard time telling who was black in a very diverse Brazil.

I feel that God’s true Church should be the loudest voice against civil injustices. The LDS Preisthood ban on Blacks were upheld by what mormons call “prophets of God” for 130 years ending in 1978! When Blacks already held positions in other churches.

Unfortunately you are going to find Catholic feminists who will have similar objections about women not being priests.

Forsure! There are women in islam that want the right to lead congregational prayers. Nonetheless, The Catholic Church and LDS Church are sharing that same problem right now. Women want the priesthood in both churches. But I’m not making this post about issues about Catholicism or feminism. My focus was and is about race and the LDS faith. So im going to try to stick to that theme or the other themes I touched on.
