I was watching an old episode of “X-Files” and Agent Scully said something like “St. Ignatius had the ability in the Bible to be in two places at one time.”

Am I smoking crack or is she? I don’t recall anything like that in scripture. Any ideas?

Disclaimer: I know X-Files is fiction… 😛

She is 🙂

Wasn’t Igatius supposedly the child Jesus called to himself when teaching how we must become like little children to enter heaven?

That’s what I thought. Maybe I’ll go back and make sure I had the right saint.
St. Ignatius can’t be the infant who Jesus carried in his arms, if St. Ignatius was born in 50 A.D. Jesus was already in heaven when that happens.

Well, the X-Files episode did in fact make this erroneous claim. It’s been brought up on the web before, see the link: tv.com/the-x-files/revelations/episode/550/summary.html

I did really like this episode, though, because it ended with the skeptic, Scully, having a conversation that started like this, “Bless me Father for I have sinned. It’s been six years since my last confession.”

I didn’t watch too much X-Files when it was new, so I’m working my way through the DVD’s right now. Does Catholicism become a more important focus on Scully’s character as the series continues or is it something they don’t usually work in to the storyline?
