Just have a look at this programme that aired on Ireland’s national flagship station last night Jul, 26 and then see why I put the above title to this blog entry. I know evil and ignorance, hand in hand, on a clerical level got the Irish Catholic Church into the mess in which we find ourselves, but courting the ignorance that exists on a lay level is certainly no answer. As the old latin phrase goes, ignorantia juris non excusat and in my opinion is is a just phrase in this case. This is what we are surrounded with to a huge degree in Ireland at present. Even when we gathered together to discuss the Pope’s letter to the People of Ireland it was identical in shape and structure to what this programme shows.
I, as one who charts his course, with Peter, through Mary to Jesus, am increasingly left feeling like there is no place for me in the Church in it’s present state in Ireland.
