Illinois Lawmakers Wade Into Pharmacist-Morning After Pill Debate

**Springfield, IL (LifeNews.com) – **Two Illinois state lawmakers have proposed legislation that would overturn Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s mandate that pharmacists fill prescriptions for all legal drugs, including the morning after pill which can sometimes cause an abortion.

Two members of the Illinois House of Representatives, one a Democrat and the other a Republican, have filed similar bills allowing pharmacists to opt out of filling prescriptions for the Plan B drugs.

Of course, they are going to have to get this passed with a veto proof margin and it would probably not stop this governor from bypassing this law with another executive order.

Probably the best we can hope for at this point (especially considering that it is highly unlikely that there will be a pro-life governor in Illinois for some time) is for a court to overturn the executive order.

The best we can hope for is that a few pharmacists will challenge this under a prospective FEDERAL LAW which would state that Pharmacists may not be punished for refusing to Dispense Artificial Contraceptives.
