So a while Back I Asked about a thousand Questions about The Catholic Faith. I left it at Looking into RCIA classes. Well I took them and Last april 15th I was Baptized, confirmed, and Had First eucherist. Since then I have Moved north into an area that is largely Catholic. Its the best thing I have done in my life and has brought new meaning to my life. Thank you all for your guidance early on and Showing me the right way to look at things. I now go to mass nearly every day(classes get in the way some days) and Am in the processes of starting a college Catholic group so that we have a common area to talk about issues and do bible studys weekly.

So Thank you very much For all your help and Ill try to stick around and be more active now.

God be with you!

Brad

You are an inspiration to me, a 62 year old RCIA Candidate who is being required to wait until next Easter. Well, done!

good luck! It is so worth going through the classes. I learned so much! Ask questions when you have them. I hope you learn to love the Church As much As I do!

God Bless

Well, that is where we seem to have different paths. If you read my postings in the spirituality forum, you will note that I have learned NOTHING from my first 5 RCIA classes. My questions are ignored, especially those that relate to my being a candidate rather then a catechuman. I love the Church, but RCIA in my area is a disgrace to the Church:mad:

don’t worry, you can ask the forum. We’ll gladly answer your questions. 🙂

I believe and If people will correct me if i am wrong, but I believe that the difference between a catechuman and a candidate is weather or not you have been baptised.

i yo have been batised you are a candidate where if you havent been like I hadnt been, You are a catechuman. PM me with Any of your questions and I will try to answerr them. I can give them to my priest as well, he was extremly helpful during this segment in my life.

Good luck.

also are there other chruches in your area where you could do the classes?

Brad

One of the most frustrating things for a knowledgeable convert is the wait. Yet I found during that long year of attending Mass without receiving the Eucharist, that the graces of desiring the Eucharist were profound, and the obedience of waiting was amply rewarded. It is said that desire for the Eucharist is a very powerful and efficacious form of penance.

Hang in there with your RCIA. In many places it is appalling. Maybe you’ll be able to change that in a couple of years.

Many blessings for you as you stick it out. I had the exact same problem. My RCIA was heavily God of the abstract, warm-fuzzy, kind. I wonder if you have this: There would be rites (of acceptance, etc) which I am sure are legit, but the director would not tell anyone what was going to happen, so as not to ruin the experience. That’s esoteric in my book, and Catholicism is exoteric. Fortunately, both the internet and my local college library had decent material I could study on my own.
