My name is Kirsty. I’ve posted here before, but I didn’t really understand then. I’ve since found a new church, and now it feels like my faith is a balloon inside me, constantly expanding and blowing my chest out - sometimes I think that it can’t possibly fit inside me, that it has to explode!

I haven’t been baptised yet, but I want to be, so much. I sing as part of every third mass, with the group, and I’ve been chosen as a cantor in the big Easter Vigil service coming up. I’m so excited - for so long, all I’ve wanted is for a chance to use the voice and talent God gave me in a setting where people can appreciate how good He is. I don’t think it’s vanity to want to be proud of what He gave me - and I’m certain it’s His will that I can sing the way I can.

I don’t have anyone I can talk to about these things. None of my friends are really religious at all, except for one friend who is a Seventh Day Adventist, and I’ve said a rosary for him a number of times. He’s bringing his children up to love God, but I do wish he would come to Mass with me. However, I know it’s not my place to judge. I’m glad I can come here and talk to you all.

Much love, and God bless
Kirsty

welcome home
keep on singing
St. Augustine says, he who sings, prays twice

Hi Kristy! Welcome! I’m a convert as well, I will receive the Sacraments of Intitation at Easter Vigil (3 more weeks, it seems like time is dragging so slow!). I think it’s great that you have found what you have been looking for! Keep singing!

Hi Kirsty - welcome! I’m rather new here myself. 😃

Really, you took the words right out of my mouth with your description of your faith growing like a ballon - I frequently feel exactly like that myself. I have been in the process of converting basically for the last 12 years (long story!) and will be received into the church this Easter. What a glorious feeling!

Are you attending RCIA? I’m so glad you are using your talent at Mass - that’s fabulous! Gosh I wish I could sing decently! LOL

Anyway, welcome & God bless!

There isn’t a RCIA programme in our parish at the moment 😦 we’re such a small parish that I’m the only person in the area currently interested in converting, which is really, really sad. I want to do this so bad it hurts, but it’s not going ahead at the moment due to lack of interest. Father said for me to keep asking him sort of once a month, so he wants for me to do this, it’s just not feasible at the moment.

Woot woot! :extrahappy:

Welcome HOME! This is great news!

Blessings to you on your journey!

I am new to the Forums, but I am a cradle Catholic. I love the different subjects and folks you can talk to here.

WELCOME!

Congratulations on your faith journey finding a home! Use your thirst for the word to learn all you can. These forums are great for that…

I hope this isn’t out of place…but wondered…

I know priests are very busy and all, but in the old days, if someone wanted to convert, the priest would give the candidate some material to work on and meet with them every month or so often. Eventually, the candidate would be ready to be baptized and brought into the church. It seems a shame that you can’t get into RCIA or do something like this. I really admire your involvement with the church already.

Do you think you could find a sponsor at your church and see if your priest would help you along so you could get baptized and move on to the other sacraments?

I will keep you in my prayers.

I think at the moment, Father is insanely busy with Lent and the preparations for Easter (though I have no idea what that involves for him). I don’t want to sound like I’m nagging at what sounds like one of the busiest times of the year. I’m in this for the long haul, three or four more weeks isn’t going to make much of a difference, though I would love to get started. I feel like what I’m doing now is enough of a start, without unduly bothering Father.

:clapping: Welcome home!

:harp:
I find that the church is the most fufilling place that I can share my musical ability as well.
Holy Week has always been my favorite time of year.

If you’ve never been to Easter Vigil, you are in for a treat. Enjoy cantoring!
:blessyou:

Kirsty, welcome home to the Catholic Church. Your brief testimony was truly inspirational and I pray for you that you will always feel and experience the joy and excitement about ***OUR FAITH. ***. You will be in my prayers in a special way during the Vigil services. Please keep me in yours.
