I have been throughout my life envious of others maybe because my life is miserable compared to many others and maybe because i pity myself,
I want to stop for i know that envy is a deadly sin but i can’t control myself, pray for my wicked soul brothers and sisters.!

You might find some help in the words of Paul in the letter to the Philippians. It’s a short book and can be read easily in it’s entirety. I particularly like chapter 2 verse 3, and chapter 4 verses 8-9. Following the advice given there will involve changing the way one thinks, but it can be done. However, it’s a process and demands discipline, which will also teach you patience. Prayers for you, my friend. 🙂

The more you envy others, the more miserable you become–so you are shooting yourself in the foot. We all suffer from some envy at times. If it is a dominant sin in your life, you need to really work on rooting it out. One tried and true way is to constantly practice an opposing virtue. Try spending your day thanking God for what you have and being content with it. Consider that all you really need is God and that He himself lived in poverty and obscurity most of His life.

More things may be in your control to change than you realize.
I don’t know how old you are, but anybody can get stuck in a rut.
Sit down with a paper and pencil and write down exactly what’s wrong. All of it. Hold nothing back. Then walk away from it.
An hour later, come back, look at your list, pick one thing wrong and decide an action plan of what you’re going to do about it.

Well the church maintains that meekness, gratitude and kindness can counter envy. So you ought to practice those in particular.
So why don’t you spend some time each day thinking of what you have to be thankful for (gratitude) and ways you can be kind to those you feel are the target of you envy. Especially if it’s a sort of kindness they’ll never know was you. Remember what Jesus said about your left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing when giving (Matt 6.3). Much the same as that, quiet good deeds to those you are envious of. In action if you can, in words or in thought and prayer always.

This may well cause you suffering but stick with it, all habits are difficult to break and hurt at first and a vice like envy is simply a bad habit the good habit or virtue of kindness/meekness is what you are striving for. If you feel angry with these people strive to practice meekness, tell yourself to calm down and pray for them. Ask God to help you. Remember all you have to be grateful for and do some act of kindness for them once you feel calmer. Don’t forget to beg God constantly for the Grace’s of kindness, meekness, patience, perseverance and charity. He will give them to you. You can do this, it will take time, keep on trying.

Go to confession regularly as you can get sanctifying grace there for confessing even venial sins which will help you even more than you can imagine to conquer this deadly sin. God bless you. I will pray for you.

It’s hard now days especially with it being life online and people faking their happiness to make it seem like a certain way. I mean who doesn’t want to eat pizza and junk food and never get bigger right? Lol behind closed doors what you don’t see they may suffer from being balemic (sorry if that’s spelled wrong) or constantly workout because they have body morphia.
God says if you find yourself watching porn gouge both eyes out lol so same thing if you find yourself lusting for other people’s life or value delete the Instagram I did or TikTok. Whatever social media it is. Then take that time to evaluate what you have and what you love like I painted my walls a gray green color and it may not be anyone’s choice but it is what I love about my room possibly the most tbh❤️ Yes there’s prettier things out there like a crime color and her room tailored perfect but for the person I am and what I love I fill my room up with nothing but things I love and make sure God is known in my room. Take this time to learn of you and your worth in God and see through Gods eyes and how he views you and the world around you. Have some life detox and amp up your prayer life feel good once again. Nature is definitely where I find God the most and it’s my private time with him. Realize that this life is nothing compared to eternity in heaven. I struggle with it everyone does it is hard but God will use you as a vessel. Start doing things you love and don’t forget to make God a priority❤️

Praying for you!

This sin at the root is pride.

The opposite of pride is humility.

Pray the Litany of Humility every morning when you get up, ever night before you sleep until it is simply part of your routine. When you feel envious, pray “Thank you, God that so and so has the blessing of that new car or those gorgeous earrings.”
